honestly, the beatles don't mean a whole lot to me. yes, the redefined their genre, but so did many other musicians, including elvis presley, jimi hendrix, etc etc. in fact, i think elvis was far more important/influential in influencing the way music evolved than the beatles were. just IMO.

I think that if you judge "best song ever" by its ability to make you sing along until your throat hurts every time you hear it, then "american pie" http://www.lyricsfreak.com/d/don-mclean/42099.html has got to be included.
