This may be evidence confirming the ultimate refutation of Peak Oil theroy.
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

Peak Oil theroy? I assumed this was in reference to Aaron's Never Ending Story. An interesting question occurs to me - we are on the edge of major pain. Is it obscene to crack jokes and try to have fun? Maybe it is. So what, I'll try and joke my way past the grave, knowing how it ends.

:-D

That's exactly right PMS - man there are so many scary buggers in that story I think the safest place to hide is IN the cemetery!

What is needed are some gratuitous picture of the fully-automatic Spec-XXXXLG, and the Humanure bazooka!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Pops', 'T')his may be evidence confirming the ultimate refutation of Peak Oil theroy.
On the other hand it seems like the ultimate confirmation that post PO will be a nightmare. If you look at what has happened with this little creative exercise, you see entropy in action. The story has no continuity. It keeps pulling off on new tangents, and spinning it's wheels, goes nowhere. (meanwhile. . . blah blah blah). When people work together, something interesting can happen, when they go their own ways, you get mishmash.

I agree for the most part but, it also demonstrates that a few will try to keep the connections while others wander at random. Sheep have shepherds to keep them from wandering and getting into trouble. You've been a good shepherd to the story.

The Humanure bazooka is a product of alien technology that has been modified to use the one earthly substance that can be propelled down the barrel. It works more like a smoke screen than a lethal weapon.

The Spec-XXXXLG is the only one in existence. It was built by a hermit from mail-order parts that were customised by said hermit. It is irreproducible.

If anyone has photos I would love to see them.

It would improve the continuity of the story if each poster included at least one reference to the previous post. The RandomWord Association thread has rules. Why not this one?

Yes, granny, the key to writing a corroborative story is continuity.

Try to weave your plot into the existing one.

One can only tidy up the loose ends with new clones for so long. After a while we'll have dozens of clones all following some different story line.

I was just re-reading the story so far, and I'm confused, amused, and thinking that this thing needs a real master at story telling to make it all come together. It aint me, I can tell you that! :? The random word thing can go on forever. Perhaps this story needs to have just that one rule, as Pops suggested, that a post need only continue the post immediately preceding it. Hmm. . . (that's a recipe for a totally crap story I know  )

Thanks mate.

Obviously my last post was my attempt at burying the dead horse so that we could stop beating it. Better to kill it and start again then keep the pain going.

At least with my other posts I was attempting to pull together other peoples parts, which is more then I can say for some… I tried to explain the processing situation that developed and take it to a place that can evolve, and I tried to explain the action parts with a simultaneous battle happening far off in the city. But no one seemed to want to continue anyone else’s ideas.

nd PMS, you’re in no position to be criticising other people’s creative writing skills! :P

LOL, actually I did like the twist with the soldiers controlling the protagonist (er, clone 3 I think) with a joystick. I was waiting for someone to say that the soldiers made two of the prisoners (or whatever they were) fight each other like a playstation game…

It really is amazing how quickly it all degenerated.. But even with rules it would get silly pretty quick. Though I have seen one of these forum never ending story type games work before. Though that was with Tolkien freaks, not peak oil apocalypse freaks. :P

Well who knows, maybe if we keep trying, it could get really cool. My thought is that Aaron screwed it up with the outer space crap which he put in as a reference to the Gary and Rebecca story.

Yeah, Aaron led us astray. :D

I think it could work, it just needs to have a couple of rules clearly stated in the opening post. Like maybe include at least 1, preferably 2 references to the previous post, and the setting or main character must stay the same. And only a moderator or designated person can make drastic changes to the story. And maybe mention that posters are encouraged to keep the story coherent by not making too many new developments. For example, anyway.
