I can go to a second hand type store and buy an assortment of old knives for little or nothing, most NOT made in China.

You have to sift through the junk, however.

I hear you can get a used refrigerator/freezer in New Orleans pretty cheap, too? :)

China's Little Green Book
By THOMAS L. FRIEDMAN
As China grows more prosperous it must urgently adopt green technologies. Otherwise it will destroy its environment and its people.

When you couple the increasing environmental pollution in China with their very high rate of cigarette smoking, the disease rate and heathcare costs in China will eventually force them to take action. The costs of caring for the sick and dying in stark economic terms of just lost labor available for manufacturing, will eventually be a limit.
An expert is someone who has made every mistake possible in their field and learned how to prevent them.

Not only that Donshan, but it is a communist country with little or no social safety net. In many cases healthcare, education and other benefits can only be had for payment. The state does treat some well. I had a friend studying here in Cyprus for 3-years on the State's dime, but I think that is rather the exception.

And, with the one child policy they ended up with a 4-2-1 paradox where one child is caring or helping to care for two parents and four grandparents. It is tearing the traditional family unit apart, there is no state apparatus to pick-up the slack.

Add-in the infirm and workers injured in industrial accidents and it is not hard to imagine a Darwinian nightmare. The very problems that communism was supposedly brought in to solve. :oops:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('MrBill', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'B')ill, I think you mean "loss leader"...

Yep, you're right. Sorry :oops:
If the oil companies were selling cars below cost to create a market for gasoline you could call it a "loss litre" :P

(EDIT) Come to think of it, the car companies were recently giving away free gas with their monster SUV's.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('threadbear', '
')Are their workers forced to work 22 hours a day and eat soylent green (the rendered remains of the previous crew, that dropped dead from exhaustion?) I've got some serious questions about what is going on here.
Bingo, you've nailed it! BTW, if a knife gets dull, why not just sharpen it yourself? That's what I do. My best knives are from Pakistan with attractive wood-inlay handles. Perfect for assassins and slicing boneless chicken both!
