I hear what you're saying and have been trying to solve this dilemma.

US loses x% in production capacity, price of gasoline goes down, not up.

Economy should be in the shitter, instead it appears to be getting fired up for the holidays.

State government keeps on funding more highway projects to ease congestion instead of light rail solutions.

In fact BP, I'd go one step further and state that in general, everything that happens appears to have the opposite effect that logic told me was going to happen.

Maybe it's just a matter of time and flux....

I feel for you PB.

I've been watching the market the past while and feel like I'm the only sane person and all the market experts are insane.

I guess its time for us to build our inside-out asylums and listen to the preachings of Wonko the Sane

but don't worry PB. If you ever get too stressed out about it just remeber the back of a box of toothpicks explains it all
Angry yet?

Markets are based on the willingness of people to buy or sell. They often don't let facts get in the way until they can no longer be ignored.

Actual shortages of goods and services may be required to wake people up. God, what a stupid species.

Consensus trance is a powerful tool.

I have heard of a tribe where the prevailing wisdom is that if a man wears a leaf tied to his body into combat he will be immune from death by bullets and/or machete attacks. However if the man happens to die in combat by bullet/machete then the prevailing wisdom states that the man was not pure enought for the leaf to work its magic.

And you thought we were in denial... 8O

Presumably they have had a degree of success with this belief over the milleniums for it to prevail. Will our belief in a market system, itself of a magnitude far in excess of this tribal contrast, prevail in spite of climate and depletion outcomes...time will tell it seems....although time does not appear to be on our side any longer with the effect that the belief appears to be increasingly desperate and irrational.

Everything that we know will one day be replaced by better theories that will one day be replaced by even better theories. We know nothing of this universe all we have is theories that fit the evidence that we can gather. We are children in a playground that we will never be fully able to comprehend. This is the one part of life that I enjoy most of all the fact that no matter how smart we think we are we know so very little and I do not believe that we can ever know it all.
