My thoughts are that judgementalism is the projection of our own sense of guilt onto others. We all are subjective creatures and as humans feel guilt. Some more and some less. My own guilt feelings have sort of faded through the years. Mostly now I just try to dodge other's judgementalism. I feel judgemental when I see someone driving in an unsafe, antisocial way; or when I see kids throw trash on the ground when there is a trashcan not five feet away. But I usually just shrug it off and prefer not to waste emotional energy condemning anyone for anything. What does it matter to me if some nutjob woman in San Fransisco threw her little kids in the Bay. Bad for the kids, but humans are often nuts anyway, so why should I fret about it? I think the guiltiest people are the most judgemental. Islamic fanatics are probably wracked with guilt feelings. Westerners such as me just don't have so much guilt, and so aren't very judgemental either. Some of the posters in this forum are very judgemental, just a few though, but you know who you are! (ahem)

'With us or against us'...'the forces of evil' .
We're all judgemental. It's just easier to be self-righteous when one holds the power either economically or politically. Westerners are so judgemental that we've ran around the world in th last 500 years spreading Christianity and western values often under the label of 'Whiteman's burden.'
Quiz: what country wants to impose the benefits of 'Freedom and Democracy' in Iraq?

I think its our sense of perfection or putting our own standars on to others. Most often when we are jsdging others it is our own background colouring what we see.
For instance, when I hear a kid crying I used to automatically think they were either being beaten, or neglected. I of course now know there are many more reasons for kids to cry, tired, hungry, temper tantrums etc. but I still have that instinctive first reaction to protect.

It is natural for us all to judge. we take in information and analyse it(judge) instinctively. some of us are slower at it, but I think, everyone does it. Some of us do wind up being a lot more conscious of it but a lot of people have done it for some long it becomes autonomic.

I don't think they ahve any guilt. I think they have found ways to justify all the things they have done and will do. When you are totally justified in what you do (very common among sociopaths) you suffer less anxiety than other more normally adjusted people.
In a way I think it sucks, to be a normal fairly well adjusted person means you are going to suffer all the typical emotions of guilt, grief, happiness, etc. only sociopathic types have little in the way of guilt (no consciences) and mow their way through life not caring about anything that happen to anyone else.
They suffer very little but to be normal means you do suffer.

I also think westerners are extremely judgemental and hyper-critical. otherwise why would we care about keeping up with the Jonses'. what car someone drives or whether or not our kids have the designer labels on their clothes.
I also think that we have an overriding urge to judge everything by our own personal standards. we personalize everything, because afterall, we are the most important person in our lives. we are so self-absorbed its not funny.and yes, I think we as a society need if not deserve to be taken down a knotch or two.
the funniest thing about life is that the people who really need the lesson are the ones who will continue on totally oblivious to what others are trying to tell or teach them. a paradox in an enigma.
