$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Leaf', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'W')ithout football the jocks would just destroy things. Football keeps them off the street

They didnt have football 100 yrs ago and somehow those teens had things to do!

How useless to make that comparison. 100 years ago was 100 years without cheap energy and the decadence it spawned. Fewer people, no TV violence, no gore movies, no crack or boat, on and on.

Cheap energy provided the power to live in ways that were not available. Morality is not arbitrary, it's there because of implicit effects on the survival of the species. Once industrialism allowed for living via prostectic means like cars and fast food and A/C morality went out the window due to it being unnecessary.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('fossilnut2', '.').. It's not that schools are 'bad' as much as they stifle a lot of creativity and potential.

Isn't that their purpose: to train obedient little automatons into a compliant workforce. 'They' don't want to train everyone to their potential. That would mean there were too many intelligent people about. Why do you think one of the first things China did for their cultural revolution was to track down and murder every university graduate they could find. It's easier to control a population that is untrained in how to think for themselves.
Kind regards, Katkinkate

The scaled-up school system common in North America is obsolete. It was an attempt to turn schooling (not the same as education) into an assembly-line factory process that created the megaschools. By now it's obvious that they are unsatisfactory and completely wasteful, and on top of that everybody hates them. We're wasting our money and we're wasting our kids' time. Good riddance.

We won't have good schooling until we have a system that aknowledges two simple facts as first principles:
1 - Every child is different.
2 - Not only do different children learn at different speeds, they learn different subjects at different speeds.

This is why home schooled kids tend be more knowledgeable. They get schooling tailored to their specific needs. Stuffing everybody into a single class determined by a single grade makes absolutely no sense.
