I think women that wear mini skirts should be raped.
Now why didn't I take the blue pill.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('EnemyCombatant', 'I') think women that wear mini skirts should be raped.

If you can't tell the diffence between wearing a mini-skirt and punching in digits into a computer correctly when it your job I'm not going to hire you as a fashion model.

On this thread of "sad and pathetic" your comparison is sad and pathetic. Do you really think that the people who took the gasoline would have raped her?

I think since this is a work-related indication of complete incompetance it would be better to compare it to other work related issues. If she was a surgeon and she put the wrong tissue type organ into your mother causing her to hemorage and die painfully how would you feel about her?

Some people shouldn't be gasoline station managers.

There is no honor amungst thieves :)

People have been getting the shaft ever since the shaft was invented.
Capitolism is in fact an economic orgy in which no one is concerned about who's getting poked or stroked as long as everyone is getting some stroking and poking.

I have something you do not - I have knowledge you do not - I will capitolize on this and screw you and you will pay me to do so if you want this stuff/information.
You will pay and you will like it and if things go well I will pay you for an ass reeming and like it also!!!! :o

round and round we go......

Ethics?? morals???
None of it is "correct""fair" or "moral" its simply acceptable capitolistic parasitic behavior.
They taught us -We teach our kids - the schools teach our kids - our society reinforces - and our kids teach their kids.

We like it when we get stroked more then poked - when we start getting poked more often then stroked "its a shame" "its unfair" etc etc blah.

This comes from the same types who have a hard time attempting to imagine a "better way" or "another way".

We certainly could not do without money now could we?
ewww communism is bad!!!!
Even though true communism has never been practiced on this planet besides maybe by the primitives/ancients.

Perhaps this "alternative" I envision is nothing but a dream
If so, then the results of capitolism has been nothing short of a nightmare.

as far as this thread topic is concerned - I think the people who believe its unmoral or unethical are living in a dream world.
Perhaps one fine day we will sincerely care again.
For now....... its god eat god and the sooner you realize it the better for you and for your seed.

Actually peanut, I was making the point that some people say a woman dressed in a certain way deserves to be raped.

While some here say this 'stupid' woman deserved to be taken advantage of.

I disagree with both but I see a similarity.
Now why didn't I take the blue pill.

I don't want to bore you but ....

When I was in high school, the vending machine was giving out free junk food. So I collected and told my friends. We had a shitload of chips. On my last visit, I greeted the vending machine guy. I felt really guilty and bad.

Me and my friends told the vending machine guy and returned the merchandise.

We probably saved his job.

Was he 'stupid'. Probably not. Realize that causing someone to loose their job could have severe repurcussions for that person's family. When you are poor and you loose your job, it's a crisis.

Give somebody a break sometimes.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('gg3', '
')The moral obligation, when you notice something and it's big enough to be questionable, is to question it. "Hey Bob, is that right? Thirty two cents a gallon?"

A week or two ago I saw someone drop a hundred-dollar-bill on the ground. "Excuse me, you dropped some money..." Automatic reflex; doesn't even occur to me to try to swipe it.

Excellent post. This is the difference between living in a civilization and living as barbarians. What would the world be like if we all acted as though we had no moral obligations? You could extrapolate scenarious out ad infinitum to show how atrocious it would be. In actuality, the idea of "moral obligation" is strong enough that some states have passed laws that make it illegal to shirk your moral obligation - i.e., help someone involved in a car accident, report a crime in progress, etc. In the past, studies have proven that most people obey the law not because it's the law, but because there is a sense of moral obligation to do so. Laws that people feel have no basis in a sense of ethics or morality (for example, speeding) end up being broken on a common basis by large numbers of otherwise lawful people. This is why drug laws don't work, by and large - people who are casual pot-smokers don't believe there is a morally obligating reason not to smoke pot.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'M')ust have accord to you at some time, or you would not have mentioned it now. I do not believe in altruism. In the end everyone is out for "I"

A ridiculous statement, one that is easily disproven. What selfish reason does a mother have for taking care of her young, whether we're talking human or other animal? The altruism in a mother is hard-wired, because if it wasn't humans wouldn't even be around to have this conversation. Just one example. While there are more and more, sadly, that fit this definition, it is by no means all-encompassing.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'c')ome one now, get off your high horse some of you. if i was presented with extra cash out of an ATM i'd take it and try and get more. why? because banks are thieves. my bank charges me £35 if i go 1 pence over my overdraft limit. they charge me 17% interest on my overdraft, but only give me 4% interest on my positive balances.

stick it to the banks and the large corporations - stick it to them!!!! i think the oil companies should be forced to sell petrol at a loss - a very large loss.

Well, to even say it's a comparable experience depends. If the ATM simply malfunctioned, then it's machinery to blame. What if John Doe the ATM mechanic accidentally tripped a switch inside that made it give out too much? I guess it would suck for John Doe if you were at the ATM, because he'd probably end up losing his job.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'M')any stations have a system that allows purchases by credit or debit card without consulting an attendent.

What's pathetic is that the lady who is the manager made the mistake and the job is not difficult to do. The fact is she is a retard if she set the price and didn't double check it. This is not like forgetting to comb your hair, this is her livelihood. If she lived downtown and went to a movie with all her doors unlocked what would you think of her?

Well, this is not the same. There's 6, 9, 15 pumps, etc. And one was punched incorrectly, and probably the only time it was done that year since we didn't read about this story beforehand. So if there were 9 pumps to be set once a day by this manager, over 1 working year, you're talking 2,160 opportunities to make a single mistake. That's pretty good odds that there might be one error in a year. Your analogy says "if she went to a movie will all her doors unlocked". Well, if she had 9 doors, and left one of them unlocked once during the course of a year, I'd say that was pretty good. And besides, is it to suggest that, regardless of the ease of a task, you've never made a mistake on an easy task? If so, I'm surprised to learn that JC has already returned...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', ' ')think since this is a work-related indication of complete incompetance it would be better to compare it to other work related issues. If she was a surgeon and she put the wrong tissue type organ into your mother causing her to hemorage and die painfully how would you feel about her?

A stupid comparison. You're comparing a routine, mundane task (of which there are many when you work in a gas station - I know, because I worked in plenty as a kid) with a life-or-death, difficult situation involving many other people (surgeon's assistant, etc). A more reasonable comparison would be that surgeon punching up an incorrect procedure on the patient summary, resulting in a huge over or under charge. Which, coincidentally, happens quite often.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'E')ven though true communism has never been practiced on this planet besides maybe by the primitives/ancients.

Perhaps this "alternative" I envision is nothing but a dream
If so, then the results of capitolism has been nothing short of a nightmare.

as far as this thread topic is concerned - I think the people who believe its unmoral or unethical are living in a dream world.

Well, I agree with the idea that true communism has never been practiced in modern times. The closest examples of communistic behavior might be some North American native tribes, Aborigines, some Asian groups, etc.

Regarding the second half of your comment, holding the belief that such behavior is immoral or unethical has nothing to do with living in a dream world. Expecting a never-ending stream of do-good deeds would be living in a dream world. I believe that such behavior is unethical, and yet I'm realistic enough to know that there are many people who are "dog-eat-dog". It doesn't change the fact that the original point is how sad and pathetic those who rejoiced in their ill-gotten fortune are...
After fueling up their cars, Twyman says they bowed their heads and asked God for cheaper gas. There was no immediate answer, but he says other motorists joined in and the service station owner didn't run them off.

It isn't a "stupid woman". It's the manager of a business. The manager who is supposed to know more about the business than her underlings. Instead she proved she couldn't be bothered to double check the price she keyed in. If she was just a cashier that might have been excusable but a manager commands a higher salary for a reason.

A number of posters mentioned the fact that the till operator did not notice and it was due to the pumps being automated and people just punching in their card details.

So, the marvels of automation, just like an electric guitar amplifies your mistakes so does automating your garage forecourt in order to cut down on staff.
