Hey!! How come 'fascist' isn't up there??

Conservative sounds ok, but so many of them are sucked into the Stupid Wars madness. That's out.

Libertarian sounds ok but their open-borders nonsense is just too wierd. Really, what's up with that anyhow?? Strange how so many interesting and otherwise attractive political philosophies have some really bizaare elements. It doesn't get more bizaare than open borders . That's out.

Liberalism is what got us into this mess in the first place. That's out.

The social democrats/ democrats... great, just what we need is a 'welfare state'. Pay the lowest IQ people to not work and only breed. If the animal kingdom worked that way in a few generations lions would quit hunting permanently. Who thought of that dumb idea anyhow?? That's out.

Green... hmmm sounds nice and 'green' so who could possibly argue with that... but uh oh... darn it anyhow, back to that welfare state silliness. That's out.

Communism. Sounds nice but every time is gets up and going 10 or 20% of the population gets starved or killed off. Hey, with powerdown coming maybe they're on to something there!! :)

I guess I'll pick communist. 8)

Yeah, I'd say you left out a good part of the spectrum.

Socially liberal, fiscally conservative, (and personally conservative).

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('medicvet', 'W')ill someone explain to me the difference between a republican and a bush lover? cus I don't get it.

There are republicans who despise bush. Many old-style conservatives don't link the fact that he's running up the debt to astronomical for instance. Nor do they like phenomenons like offshoring and would enact protectionist measures if they could.

In other words - what do conservatives conserve anyhow these days?

Yep I agree with that. My 'political' stance changes with the issue and the circumstances. I voted for Green, but I'm actually more of a social democrat with a green/libertarian agenda. 8)

Politics is the farce designed to confounds anything approaching real democracy. I last voted Green & Independent (a moderate with libertarian leanings), doubt i'll bother again. Personally am 'green', but would seriously consider voting for independent minded old school conservatives, libertarians, or social democrats if standing in my electorate.
Any party that forces MPs to vote according to party-line should be banned as it results in MPs not representing their electorates.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Specop_007', 'Y')ou realize Green Party, Socialism and Communism are just damn near the same thing, and all 3 are pretty close to Democratic Party's values right?

What drivel. The socialist scandinavian countries fought the communists and went for nuclear power. The notionally communist soviets & chinese devastated their environments. Did soviet communism and chinese communism lead to the same thing? Why do communists suppressed green groups? Real green politics have nothing to do with a social welfare net or who owns the means of production. With such ignorance no wonder we're stuck alternating picking between predatory capitalism and predatory capitalism lite (Lib/Labour, Tory/Labour, Repub/Demo - same shit, diff shovels).

At the roots they all support the same thing. Take from the haves to give to the have nots, and have a really big government that has its hands in EVERY faucet of life. Not of course that other systems dont, but most socialist systems actually support and need the government intervention into everyday life.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Sencha', 'C')ommunism is pretty cool, I chose that. Although it isn't very practical to consider yourself one in this day and age, so I'm more democrat.

A Democrat essnetially holds Communist values so you can cut to the chase and say your a Communist who wants America (As we founded it) to fail miserably.
Be proud of who you are. :)

No I dont. Communists are despised by most even on the left. There are considerable differences between the greens and the socialists.

An by most standards the democrats would be centrist, perhaps even center-right like most european liberal parties.

Actually I voted for Democrat because I guess it comes closest to my mostly centrist views.

To me thats the scariest thing. Our far left is considered Europes center. 8O

Goes to show how far they've fallen. :(

I think your Democrats are even to the right of our Liberal party (our right wing party). What is it about you Americans and your fear of Communism? You've bought into your Governments propaganda so deep, you're afraid of giving anyone a helping hand in case it makes you look like a pinko. You've go so far right you're flirting with facism.

When you are on the fringe, I think everything will look homogenous to you. Like take the example of a communist for instance, from his point of view everyone else besides himself is essentially an evil capitalist even liberals, greens and social democrats, becuase they support or atleast tolerate free enterprise.

Not very different from you calling anyone who flirts with even a few ideas of a welfare state, not really a lot in the case of the democrats; mostly just healthcare and social security, is a communist.

Except the commonality of those I group as "the same" is always more government, more government programs, more government taxes and less personal responsiblity.
So while theres small differences in the various parties they essentially have the same core values which is more government and take from the rich to give to the poor.
