$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('SupplyConcerns', 'H')ere at Oberlin College, I know a number of people who put credence in the idea of the singularity. What's more strange, I'm taking a class called "Biotechnology and Culture", which basically accepts the singularity and transhumanism among its premises.
Transhumanism is pretty interesting, one of the few places people have been taking seriously the impacts of emerging technologies on culture. It was always hard for
me to take very seriously but it provided some fun speculation.
I interviewed James Hughes (a.k.a. "Dr. J" / Changesurfer Radio) a while back for an article -- really nice guy. He has an interview up at Changesurfer Radio with Richard Eidlin of the Apollo Alliance. I'm not familiar with the Apollo Alliance, nor have I listened to the interview, but the title is "building the post-oil society." Perhaps he talks about "nanocarbons" or something.
