Robert Fisk denied entry to US

Unread postby rogerhb » Wed 28 Sep 2005, 17:54:06

Was it something he said?

U.S. BARS ROBERT FISK FROM ENTERING COUNTRY

I like Fisk, he actually goes on the ground at great risk unlike a large number of politicians and journalists.

Someone who interviews collateral damage and describes what he sees.

We used to call that being a journalist.

Robert Fisk
See : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Fisk

For the lazy who won't bother clicking :
The man has 7 times been listed as the best journalist of the year. He has interviewed Osama three times pre 9/11, and I heard his commentary in 99 listing Osama as a serious threat to western power and conducting a serious war against the US. He refuses to be embedded and operates independantly, he was one of the first on the scene at the Lebanese president assasination because he lived there. Not known to be friendly to US government policy.

I dislike censorship and this seems to be just that.

I've read Fisk's written reports for some time. Is our government so frightened of this one man whose only weapon is his careful, reasoned, and yet passionate reporting? "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free"...... our own government is now most afraid of the truth.

I think they were seriously shocked by George Galloway.

Don't worry... there is plenty more ways to filter, water-down, spin, change, and debate the truth. Oh and don't forget they could still employ many 'P.R." groups to utilizet fallacies and control the public debate to no end...

And even then, that's assuming people are even listening in the first place... it seems you have to take away the bread and circuses first...

You can keep the masses distracted pretty well... plus you can throw up alternative arguments left and right - and get people confused..

They also denied access for Cat Stevens a while back.

They must have really disliked his songs, singing about peace and all that.

I've read and appreciated Fisk's writings for years. I'm glad he's not been 'disappeared'-if you know what I mean.
May the four winds blow him safely home. I'm not so sure the US is the best place for any thinking/reporting-type person now- and I say this without an exit strategy for myself.
