Country, Puppy Dogs, and War

Unread postby evilmonkeyspanker » Mon 26 Sep 2005, 23:38:25

I suppose that answers are never easy. I have been watching this world play out for the last few years, ever since 9/11. I remember that day when the planes came, and all I could think is that we are doomed, who will save us?, who would do this? It was scary.

Then next thing I know, we are going after osama bin laden and that we were going end this terrorist threat once and for all (Good for us). Then months after months pass and the greatest most powerful nation in the world couldn't find one tall ass dirty turban man. Then George bush starts talking about how that IRAQ and how Saddam Hussein was actually supporting the terrorist and was going to be providing the terrorist with WMDs.

Now we are in iraq and we have been there since 2002. (Later, we find that George and his croonies may have been less than honest) A tiny little country mainly populated with people shitting in the streets. Then we toppel the government, arrest Saddam, and have now got them going with a consitution. Yet, we are still there and our government is saying we will be there for many more years.

We have protesters in washington DC at least 500  that we know off, and the only thing getting coverage on TV is Rita, and Ashton and Demi's wedding nuptials. I admit Rita should get coverage, but so should Sheehan and her group. I remember that in history class in high school we were told how our country was "the" country. The greatest nation ever, and that every other country except our "simple friends" up north, were dirty and barbaric and lived in backwards societies. Ours is a nation of freedom and democracy were every voice matters. That by voting we can make a difference (God, Country, Puppy Dogs, Lemonade, and War)

I guess what I am trying to say, is that we are not a country, we are not a democracy, this is not a great nation. This is a company, run by a board of directors, a CEO, and Shareholders. The employees of this company work and toil and are given the company plamplets to read, we are to think alike, dress alike, and spout the company motto.

I have also come to understand over the years, that in the end, what we are discussing here will never be anything more than the ranting of a group of disidents that will most likely be fired. The NeoCons will win and will continue to win, because they are the ones who have power.

Yes, those of us in the Forum are an enlightened group we are the ones who want to see change, but there are not enough of us to make a difference. I am hoping that Sheehan can, I hope that she will start to get more and more to join her cause and maybe make a little difference.

What I typed here is my opinion and is pretty hard to follow, since I am not very good with words. All, we can really hope for is that maybe the world will fall apart post peak, it always seems that the world is always the brightest and happiest after the dark ages. Maybe, just maybe if everthink crashes down the toilet and there is a world wide regimine change, we might get a few hundred years of introspectivness.

I don't know... what do you think?

I agree.

You are bad at words. (No, just kidding..)

The only thing I want to disagree with is the helpless attitude that you have...

Have you tried?

(Never tried it..)

Honestly, what can you do?

What can any of us do, that will not be treated as an act of terrorism. I wouldn't last very long in prision ... I am way too pretty ;) One person can't make a difference nor can 10, 100, 1000, or 100,000. I know I can't count of my fellow Americans because we have now started the new television fall lineup and there is a lot of good reality on tv.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he NeoCons will win and will continue to win, because they are the ones who have power.

Actually, how the Neocons got that power is quite an interesting story. How the Neocons keep that power is an interesting story. They discovered and tapped into two things:
1. Ability to reign the media
2. Ability to shape the language

See how they coin terms like "family values" to mean hatred of diversity, and "judicial activism" to force judicial revisionism? They sent out DC aids to create a streetbuzz, intimidating the Florida recount. They created Astroturf groups like Swiftboat Moms in Winnebagos to counter Cindy Sheehan. They create legal fictions, and then rail against rational things. My Senator last week cried on TV for National Unity, then was caught on tape doing the crossword puzzle. Its all a big show. In Texas, Jack Abramoff was hired by the Tiguas to lobby for their casino, and he teamed up with consultants to "rile up the preachers" against the Tiguas, then gave the Tiguas a series of financial demands. Same thing is happening in Oklahoma. The memberless groups are incorporating for 2006 elections, to launch smear campaigns. At sourcewatch.org, check out One Nation, Qorvis, Swiftboat Veterans, etc. or browse to see how soft money is "the hand in the puppet."

The Neocons have this power because voters are cows. They get their mission at church and dutifully trod to the polls as if they are cashing in their tokens toward a trip to heaven. Whew! Glad I didn't say that out loud. :)

I'd say this is similar to Bill Clinton laughing and joking with another pol at a memorial service for Ron Brown and then abruptly changing his behavior and pretending to wipe away tears when he noticed the camera.

Politicians tend to be halfway decent actors by neccessity and a good many of them I suspect, are also sociopaths-hence they can do the things that they do and still sleep at night. Sociopaths can make great negotiators. You wouldn't want to play poker with one either.
