$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('BabyPeanut', 'H')e busts these myths: Already there's been an 11 cent drop to 295.5 cents/gallon link
so does that mean we should expect 246.5 cents/gallon again?
(All prices US national avergage, your location will most likely be different.)

The wholesale price has fallen to 188.90 See: Bloomberg

So, retail should be at $2.50...

Light crude futures appear to have stopped falling so the 60 cent guess will be pretty close.

Roscoe Bartlett has a peak oil conference coming up with Matt Simmons and John Howe on the 26th in DC. Maybe some interest will develop from that. One can only hope that people down there will listen.

Congressman Bartlett's PO Conf.

Unread postby thorn » Mon 26 Sep 2005, 12:49:09

CSPAN was there and it should be on sometime in the near furture, keep an eye on http://www.cspan.org/. They did not have a web broadcast.

===EDIT====

Tomorrow they should have a transcript here: http://www.fnsg.com/

They handed out some of the power point slides and I heard a staffer say that they would put them on their web site soon.

They also handed out a free poster to the first 200 people:

There is an announcement in the PO news section that it is on C-SPAN at 1:08 AM EDT Sept 27. But TOD has a link to CSPAN schedule that says it is on at 3:00 AM EDT.

See:

It is only 1:14 long. I guess it is only part of it.

What kind of sick, twisted minds do they have there at CSPAN :wink: We should all email them to make up their minds. I'm sure they would be shocked at the intensity of attention being paid to their schedule changes.

There is a GREAT set of comments about the Bartlett conference at The Oil Drum:

http://www.theoildrum.com/story/2005/9/24/0449/35772#26

The big news in the conference was lightly mentioned by Donal in his comments: $this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '[')b]In the Q&A, Bartlett said that the President was quite aware of peak oil.

Bush knows about Peak Oil !!!!

PS
These comments are under a story on the PO conference in Yellow Springs.

When I just looked at the CSpan schedule, the broadcast of the Bartlett conference was said to be 6:31 ET on C-Span2.

On Rep. Bartlett's website it said that he and President Bush had had a conversation about peak oil about a month or two ago. His only comment at the time was that he felt good about their talk.

Rep. Bartlett doesn't get as much notoriety as Matt Simmons does, but he's done great work to get the word out. He's an excellent speaker and extremely well versed on the subject.

I'm going to wake up early to catch this on CSPAN. The schedule says 0631...

Could you post a link to Representative Bartlett's website about their conversation please?

I looked at Bartlett's website but couldn't find the statement you refer to.

PeakOiler, here's an article that talks about Bartlett's meeting with Bush.

http://www.energybulletin.net/7024.html

The text is originally from the Bartlett website.

=========

I just finished watching the CSPAN broadcast of the conference. It was very good, especially the diversity of the participants. Rep. Bartlett seemed more relaxed than in his solo talks (it must be much nicer to talk to an audience rather than to an empty House). I found myself agreeing with just about all of the speakers.

There's another thread on The Oil Drum devoted to the Bartlett Conference. (this is different from the one I mentioned previously)

I was at the conference and wrote up a semi-news report about it:

http://adaptationzine.com/content/bartlett-conf

I'm pretty surprised to discover C-Span aired it already, I was under the impressed it would be a couple weeks. Good on C-Span!

And on cable in the US no less! I hope a lot of people tuned in.
