$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('LadyRuby', '
')So what's with the cello?

It's called a "random association" and did seem quite appropriate to me at the time when I posted it. As of now I have no explanation for it but still think that it is an excellent picture. I have a male equivalent on hand in case the impression arises that I have a preference here which of course I don't. I'm neutral as a brick.

albente, we need to stick to the facts, I'm abit tired of people posting unrelated pictures and then the responses after are about the picture and not related to the thread topic. I noticed someone in another thread has posted a very large picture of a fractal generated image without any message text. Very colourful but it had no relation to the thread topic either.

There are way more Dukat, but I did promise Monte to hold my horses. The last link that you posted was a no-brainer though, PStarr posted:" i've always wished for a world without humans. It's comming". to which I answered with the insect picture.

My picture posts are meant to inspire you and to stimulate you to think "an octave higher". I suggest that you print out the insect picture and put it up the wall. It might lead to an epiphany.

I have a feeling that when stuff really hits the fan, the economists, polysci hacks, and talking heads better watch out. They will be the first to be liquidated.

albente, yeah I understood the picture with the bugs. If the picture is related it's ok then, but I am not much of an arty person, infact i barely grasp the concept of art.

Insects comprise the most diverse group of animals on the earth, with over 800,000 species described—more than all other animal groups combined: "Indeed, in no one of her works has Nature more fully displayed her exhaustless ingenuity," Pliny exclaimed. Insects may be found in nearly all environments on the planet, although only a small number of species have adapted to life in the oceans where crustaceans tend to predominate.

In other words they did rule the world before mammals and will after us (human being are nothing but a type of animal- only uneducated wacko middle age religious type of guys would deny that fact).

Definition of mammal:
The mammals are the class of vertebrate animals characterized by the presence of mammary glands, which in females produce milk for the nourishment of young; the presence of hair or fur; and which have endothermic or "warm-blooded" bodies. The brain regulates endothermic and circulatory systems, including a four-chambered heart. Mammals encompass some 5500 species, distributed in about 1200 genera, 152 families and up to 46 orders, though this varies depending on the classification scheme adopted.

Note the difference between 800.000 species and 5500! Besides the ability to adopt to changing environments.

You might wonder about fish, since they are not mammals and yet such a large group of higher developed live forms. They are the original vertebrates which lead to what became mammals once oxygen, which was and still is a hard to deal with substance for inhabitants of the oceans eventually became managable:

A fish is a poikilothermic (cold-blooded)* water-dwelling vertebrate with gills. There are over 27,000 species of fish, making them the most diverse group of vertebrates. Taxonomically, fish are a paraphyletic group whose exact relationships are much debated; a common division is into the jawless fish (class Agnatha, 75 species including lampreys and hagfish), the cartilaginous fish (class Chondrichthyes, 800 species including sharks and rays), with the remainder classed as bony fish (class Osteichthyes).

Conclusion: Humans might dissapear, so might mammals alltogether, insects on the other hand have the highest pool of species and therefore the best chances of survival.

albente I fail to see how that has anything to do with stock market trading or economics. Please take it to another forum.

On-topic:
Core PPI was released today with no increase in inflation. Which simply means that energy costs are taking a long time to filter through to these numbers. There's no doubt in my mind inflation will show its ugly head sooner than later because my cost of living certainly isn't going down. And if the Fed pauses with interest rates we may see a bit of a stock market rally at the expense of the US dollar.

A perfect storm is brewing. High stock market valuations, weak dollar, inflation numbers that are sure to rise, Saudi Arabia peaking, and winter energy shortages. It is going to be a very cold winter.

I've given up on trying to understand any of this. The whole thing (economy, energy supply, etc.) just doesn't make any sense. What should be up is down, what should be down is up. I give up.

Falser, the post about insects indeed belongs on this thread where a world without human beings is meditated.
http://www.peakoil.com/fortopic12562.html

and ended up here as a remark of Dukat to seemingly unrelated picture-posts. See it as an extension of different threat that reaches in this one here. Here the picture FYI Enough explained?

and no, it cannot be taken to the original thread since posts on this forum cannot be deleted or transferred.
