$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('mgibbons19', 'F')unny thing is, even the smallest government libertarian would agree that along with military defense, and perhaps infrastructure development, disaster preparedness and relief are just the sort of few things a government should do.
It depends. What do you mean when you say "government"?
If you mean a federal entity consisting of useless and corrupt assholes, then I definitely don't agree. If you mean an entity consisting of your friends and friends of your friends working on a local level, then I agree.
The people can and will take care of, and help it's own people if such disasters as Katrina happens if only the people were left alone by the governments to decide themselves what's best for them. A federal government can and will not, because it's too busy wasting your money on beaurocracy. Trust your government and you'll end up like the people in NO who are dying from thirst, waiting for help that will never come.
We are being told that we can and should trust our governments. I say that's wrong. Trust noone else but yourself and your friends! If you don't have friends, make some fast because this event has proven that if you trust your government, you'll die alone.
