And people think PO will be a bad thing. Hardly I say.


I don't see it that way.

For decades we've been growing for no other reason than greed and for
the sake of growth.

Now that we've consumed most of our natural resources, peakoil may

well finish the job.

Thing is, both gas and natural gas are relatively clean when burned. Ideally
the exhaust is primarily CO2 and H2O. When PO hits, we will be forced to
fall back, for a time, on things like wood and coal. These are much more
polluting, and combined with a huge population could spell environmental
disaster. If enough people start using wood for heat this would put
even more pressure of the cost of wood than there already is, for example.

We're running out of things to burn. Not there yet, but the end is in sight.

Ahh scenes like that amaze/depress me. I was flying from Minneapolis to Los Angeles and there are these little irrigated green farming oaisises IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREAKING DESERT. Over in Nevada and California... :-x
