The Verve Story

Unread postby PenultimateManStanding » Sat 20 Aug 2005, 02:22:52

One one my all time favorite jazz downloads was 'Oh Lady Be Good' which is a long jam session with Charlie Parker and Lester Young. I found it a couple of years ago. Well, today I went to the library to get some books by Konrad Lorenz and picked up some CDs to add to my computer music collection and got The Verve Story and found out at last where that particular cut came from. Verve Records: hot if you like jazz.

JAZZ! It was happening before Rock and Roll. Far superior in its artistry and quality. What makes those old time jazz guys so good is they knew their music. They had the understanding of the depths and range of musical expression and the sheer knowledge required. Now days you got a bunch of amateurs who think little about the technicalities and don't know much.
