Fuel prices: The $400 Fill-up

Unread postby BabyPeanut » Thu 18 Aug 2005, 19:48:01

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he surge in fuel prices has been downright painful for independent truckers like Hattiesburg resident Richard Harless.
He says it costs between $375 and $400 to fill both tanks on his truck. But there's not much he can do but grin and pay.

yeah i know... i'm not suprised at the size of the tanks. it's just a lot of gasoline when you multiply it out. There are probably millions of trucks on the road...

160 * 100 = 16,000 gallons (~380 barrels) for 1 truck for 100 trips

380 barrels * 1,000,000 = 380,000,000 barrels for ~100 trips.

And 160 gallons may not be enough for some trips...

160 gallons is a truck with relatively small capacity. Some trucks have dual 150 gallon tanks. $3.00/gallon diesel x 300 gallons = if you have to ask...

Grocery prices are jumping around here in a big way. Inflation is here!
Economy is going to tank and oil prices will then be back to $40 by the first of the year
Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.
It's not hard to do.

If the US economy tanks, US tax receipts plummet and the federal deficit soars. Nobody wants to buy T-bonds from a bankrupt government so the dollar is toast. Oil prices might fall in Yen, renmembi, and euros, but they will not fall in dollars. The good news is there might be cheaper world petrol prices in 2006, the bad news for Americans is it won't be cheaper for you.

I saw a man interviewed on the news at the beginning of the summer. He filled his boat up at the lake. Fuel was over 4 dolars and his boat had 2 V8 engines. He spent 350 dollars to fill up. He must have had 200 gallon fuel tank.
Peace out!
