I hope you don't mean bring on the doomer survivalist scenarios.
I assume you are female, so after u are raped, please don't expect
the morning after pill, anything more than a coat hanger for an
abortion or treatment for sexually transmitted diseases.

If you're male, you will have an interesting experience with anal
suturing. HIV could be a factor, but without a test you'll never know.

Anyway, without TV it will at least provide entertainment for the bad
breathed, mouth breathers manning your M-60 and building the
pile of used MREs.

Yeah!!! Bring it AAAAAAAAWWWWWWNNNNN!! behbeh.

I'm suprised that I see women wishing for such a future.
If we repeat the history backwards ... then stabilization will be in something in between the middle ages and the ancient Rome.
In both scenarios women were used as pleasure objects and breeding machines. In a Hobbsian future the "stronger" (in terms of physical power) sex will subordinate the weak.
Rape was not considered a crime, unless a slave commited it against someone from the rulling class.

No we're not. We're just explaining that if you provide the COMPLETE
context of the doomer scenario it is essentially NOT a life worth
living.

i.e. Just like riding off into the sunset ends with ordinary problems,
AFTER "bugging out" with the rifle and MREs devolves into a way of
life so hard and cruel that it 'ain't really worth living.

The doomers tend to forget that bit or just fail to think it thru.

Anyone who really thought thru the collapse/survivalist scenario
would NEVER say bring it awwwwwwwwn!!!!!!

They'd pray it never comes. I'll bet it never does.

One cannot have a "natural" way of life in some aspects of his/her life.
It is a package deal: yes they will not be schools, things like laws, jobs etc but there will be plenty of suppression , infanticide (instead of contraception), and even slavery. Oh did I forget to mention nasty footlong worms sticking out of people's butts? . Machines/technical civilization were not all evil

This presupposes a sudden, almost instant collapse on the scale of Y2K.
Any collapse will probably be more of a slide. You also seem to ignore
behavioural norms- assuming that people will ditch any standard or
expectation because life has descended to knife fights in the dust over
MREs or corn seed. I think this is unrealistic. It would require the
utter collapse of any form of government, law, supply chain over the
scale of months.

MAYBE the great depression is a better model. Dislocation, poverty,
rationing etc. But it takes a LOT before people descend to the level
of violence u describe. While Soup kitchens feed, people won't fight
on the level u predict. Malnourished people have low energy anyway
and the starving have 5 minutes of reserves fighting over a thrown
loaf. That's it.

The scale of catastrophe u predict is akin to nuclear war and I've
been waiting for that for 30 years or more. A slide in energy
availability/soaring prices - if it happens- will produce massive
hardship but not TEOTWAWKI in a year or so.

Doufus,

The conditions you envision are frightening, agreed. No sane person would wish for them. If the collapse happens as thoroughly as many envision, it will be the little things (sanitation, routine vaccinations etc) that will turn out to be the biggest things.

If a general die-off happens, which affects the US, I hope to be among those who make it thru the process. Right now, the odds are not good, but I'm working hard to improve them. It will be an ugly process, and no doubt many will choose to let entropy take them rather than endure the ugliness.

After the die-off, I expect we'll reach a point of sustainability. If I can make it that far, then maybe I can participate in helping to rebuild some sort of society, community. So while I can still be called a "doomer", I hold a cautious optimism for after the inevitable crisis.
