Where did all the hippies go? (we need them)

Where did all the hippes go?
Where did everyone go who cared?
To sex, drugs and rock and roll -
Because we are all now being controlled,
Body, minds and souls.

Where is the activism?
The music and the creationism,
for were living in a lifeless prism,
unable to change, locked in prison.
Were was the movement based in rythm?
Its gone to fight for a lie called patriotism

Where did everyone go who cared?
About their lives, future and welfare
instead of caring what to wear,
we need to exchange thoughts and care
after all they are ment to share.
yet we are to busy with TV, cars and combing out hair

Life is so empty now, capitolism has taken control,
we live life as we are told,
Dark, alone and cold,
We need to change this before we grow old,
If we want to experiance life without being controlled

They send us to war, with no real reason
at least for what we are not being told, its for money and greed
they should be charged with treason
War is not what we need,
Think of all the families that now bleed,
In Iraq were they fight to feed
When we live life in luxary and greed
And we do nothing to change this

The hippies could help us change this,
this mess we are now in.
the music is gone and it seems to be the end
The lies and truth have blended in,
We are told freedom is what we need to defend.

We no longer know the truth, without it we die
But are we being controlled, is this all a lie?
For resources, dominance and death?
we need to change, or at least try,
the people running this country need to fry,
think about all the others who die
Yet nobody cares, nobody cries
when will people finaly realise??

We will not know what we did till its over,
which will come sooner then we think.
Nuclear bombs, war and greed
will fuel as demise as we all bleed,
but we will not know until its to late
because we are being controlled and dont understand our fate.
Where did all the hippes go?
They could relate
Vietnam was nothing, This one takes the cake,
when will everyone realise whats going on.
Please people WAKE! WAKE! WAKE!

the hippies is us my friend....the folks who went off and hung out in the universities and studied all sorts of silly obscure sciences just because they thought it was neat....thought that there was a good battle to be won in terms of Vietnam.....thought we were all frigged up with our need for posessions.

I am afraid that the original "hippies" are pretty much gone. I have a few old friends who are "long haired and bearded" living the quite life but they are defintely non_activist.
Guess is we need a new crew of "holier than thou" folks to take over.
