Unread postby PenultimateManStanding » Wed 10 Aug 2005, 00:14:39

I heard it on NPR tonight. He says that he is a consultant to many Fortune 500 Corporations and the top item of discussion in the Corporate Boardrooms is Oil. He says there is a huge move in the Corporate world to renewable energy and hydrogen for energy storage. When asked why Wall Street is doing well he said its delusional.

He was also interviewed on the BBC World Service today, commenting that he thought oil prices would only rise ever higher, and that we'd quite likely see a worldwide recession in the next six months.

I only caught bits of it, but don't think he explicitly mentioned the concept of PO.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('CrudeAwakening', '

I had the strange feeling that they both were aware of PO and were dancing around it. Generally, the price rises are attributed to security concerns, bad weather, rising demand, anything but the truth.

For Christ sake, you don't want people to start panicking, do you?
Better keep them dellusioned giving them info bit by bit. Too much of anything leads to shock, and since the majority believes media, any mention of the incoming doom would lead to a massive buy out (off ?) of goods, which could lead to inflation (followed by hyperinflation).
Not sure if it makes any sense, but that's how I see it.

Rifkin is PO-aware. He wrote the book, literally, on entropy. PO is also a central part of his book, The Hydrogen Economy.
