Hi,

The number of pages served is doubling every three to four months. It looks like alot of the increases happen whenever crude oil is setting a new record, which has been nearly continuous lately.

By the end of the year you could be getting 10 million page requests a month. Would the site be able to handle that volume? It may end up overwhelmed.

If that happens though you will have one of the most heavily trafficed sites on the net. I haven't kept up on the stats but I heard that last year kazaa got 20 million downloads and was considered the number one for site traffic on the Web.

I think PO.com is a REALLY small fish in a REALLY big ocean.
You want big?
Click

Granted, this is only for message boards, and PO is more then that but still. It goes to show how small PO really is.
The #1 largest board is about anime. Kinda funny. But they have over 2 MILLION memebers.
They have almost 350 MILLION posts on the boards.

I can only imagine that their daily pages served is, but I'd guess its more the PO does a month.

Have you come across www.alexa.com ?

It's a traffic ranking system for the internet....it's not 100% accurate,

but PO.com ranks at a very respectable 46,501

that is to say it is the 46501th trafficed site on the internet - which is pretty good going.

ASPO is 140,782 which again is pretty good.

(my own sites are lucky if they in the 700,000s!)

cheers

Julian

BTW, what is this about being an ambassador? Eh? Ambassadors don't have their lunch down their tee shirt! All I can promise is that I try not to rant or vent...tooo often, but I certainly reserve the right to clown around...[smilie=5bouncy.gif]

Come on Aaron give us the real meat. What are the stats broken down by government, military, home users and, business. Do you have those ISPs broken down into percentages?

Is the unresolved/unknown row people who use antispyware?
How do you account for that rather large number?
If it's not largely Americans then kudos to the rest of the world for paying attention.

Does anyone think that this has any type of correlation to who, in the first world, is already feeling the effects?

Dunno... but it's at least 11% of our traffic.

AntiSpyWare would not block who visits the site.

Kinda spooky huh?

Open proxy would mask that I think... but that's a lot of hits just for that.

I'm sure Dick Cheney visits the site regularly.

In fact, I think he posts regularly too. That is, until we banned him. (BiGG).

I have a feeling that the FBI, CIA, and other such organizations visit this site in order to keep tabs on how the issue of Peak Oil is along. If they see us getting close to something big, they will probably shut us down and arrest Dan/Aaron. 8O

Tyler,

You jest of course.

But we both know that (amoungst others) the "conspiring to pump up the price of petroleum" charge could be used against all posters other than: BIGG, John Denver, Dontworryaboutpeakoil, Jay Morrison, and the other "optimists."

"FACTS" will not be allowed at the military tribunal. (The judges are the .28% + the "UNKNOWNS" who are watching us like the eye in the pyramid).

I hope someone is purging those server logs regularly. 8O

daculling,

well now sir, I said we could be charged in an unjust system, I do not, and never would presume my own guilt.

As for being an ambassador, I actualy did try to become a REAL diplomat once...in response...well let's just say it did not work out as I intended.

Arron,

If I am a PO state representative I demand my diplomatic pouch..he he.
