Antioxidants Proven To Be Key To Long Life

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '0')9 Aug 2005
Boosting the body's levels of natural antioxidants could be the key to a long life, according to US scientists. The International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition 2004 published results showing that Reishi caused a significant post-ingestion increase in plasma antioxidant capacity with peak response at 90 min. Increase in urine antioxidant capacity was seen within 3 hours. Results indicate that Reishi intake causes an acute increase in plasma antioxidant capacity. Reishi has been shown to suppress cell adhesion and cell migration of highly invasive breast and prostate cancer cells, suggesting its potency to reduce tumor invasiveness.
Regular consumption of fruits and vegetables (functional foods) are now considered essential ingredients in cancer and coronary disease prevention programs, e.g. the Department Of Health campaign advocating 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day.

What the hell is Reishi?
Sounds like something I'd take home for a few hours after giving her a couple hundred bucks..... :o

yea three more years when I'm shitting in diapers. I really want that.

Can't we just die in dignity? I'd rather have 50 years of quality life than 90 years hooked up to a machine.

It's this stupid ass mentality that more is better.

Reishi is a TASTY Japanese mushroom.

Anti-oxidents like (L SIDE) Vitamin C,E, and nutraceuticals such as Pomegranite juice, Bilberry, SRAIGHT Coaco, Spirulina /Chlolrella (algies), and Seabuckthorn oil...will EXTEND A QUALITY LIFE by keping your brain from deteriorating as much as it could w/o such help.

why dont you just die now then? i guarantee you'd feel different if you were told you had a couple of weeks to live. you'd be going out of your mind trying to figure out how to avoid it or be cured. its very easy to talk about death - just wait till you experience it in practice, which many who flippantly discuss it on here likely havent.

I never said I wanted to die, I said I wanted to die with dignity. If I knew I had three weeks left, I'd spend my time doing shit like tellin everyone good bye, not pleading with doctors and God (who has already pre-ordained my date of death) for an extra few days.

By defination you can only experience death once. And when I experience it, I know for a fact that I'll have accepted the fact (assuming I don't die unexpectedly like in a plane/car crash). This is simply because everyone has to go.

Begging for an extra few days is not worth it. It's going to come eventually anyways. Anyways, at that point in life (75+), many people are dependant on others for basic, everyday needs. You become a huge burden, suffer daily and basically life sucks. I'd rather just go than have another three or four years of crapping in diapers.

True, all the tomato ads(and even ketchup bottles) advertise their antioxidants. So, is it true that tomatoes are a good source for antioxidants?

I'm pretty much assuming that 100% of people on this forum have not experienced death.

Of course it may be that the zombies have risen, (see other posts) but I generally think that raging zombies seem to have other things to do than participate in online discussions....

I may be wrong, though :-D

I don't know why people think living a few more years means a few more years in a nursing home shitting in diapers. What the article pointed out is that it reduces the chances of cancer, heart disease, stroke, etc. It also means you age more slowly so that means you have more years enjoying whatever you do, if you enjoy doing anything that is.

Regular exercise, especially as you get older, will help you from becoming frail and unable to take care of yourself.

I don't see any problem with improving your quality of life.

Some sound like my aunt "Eat more sausage, you won't live forever"

Then I look at the poor fellows who do eat a lot of it and how good their health is as a result.

Tomatoes, Eggplant, Peppers, white potatoes are NIGHTSHADES (Solanaceae):

"Solanaceae species are often rich in alkaloidal glucosides that can range in their toxicity to humans and animals from mildly irritating to fatal in small quantities."

Or you can take this guys word:

Besides if they tout it on TV, like SOYA-Shiesse, do you really think it's good for you?

Coffee is number one source of antioxidants

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'C')offee provides more than just a morning jolt; that steaming cup of java is also the number one source of antioxidants in the U.S. diet, according to a new study by researchers at the University of Scranton (Pa.). Their study was described today at the 230th national meeting of the American Chemical Society, the world's largest scientific society.
Besides keeping you alert and awake, coffee has been linked to an increasing number of potential health benefits, including protection against liver and colon cancer, type 2 diabetes, and Parkinson's disease.

Nightshades aren't bad for people. Not even for those with arthritis. They will add to the pain in the joints, though, so it's best to avoid over consumption of them. They are an antioxidant so will help to prevent cancer, even in those with arthritis.

It's important to separate the chafe from the wheat!

Lycopene - the cancer reducer

Your URL reference above states the importance of the Solanaceae family . "Despite the extreme toxicity of the tropanes, they are important drugs when administered in appropriate (and extremely small) dosages." :)
