$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('johnmarkos', 'I') rarely post now, but in 2004 and 2005, I was here all the time. Sometimes I drop by to see what's happening.
How's your little boy doing John? He's learned to walk and talk by now. Little kids make life sweet. But it's sad to contemplate their future. I hope they can pull it off.

Another old one here but I haven't posted a great deal. How things have deteriorated since then. I find myself getting more and more pessimistic with time.

Peakoil.com has become flooded with visitors lately. Yesterday, when oil shot up to $140, the site became very slow. All of us 2004 alumni used to be considered tin foil hat aficionados (and many of us still are), but that appears to be changing. On this site, we correctly predicted the rise of oil prices while just about everyone else was predicting a "return to normal" by the end of each year since. Like the neocons and their WMDs, the average Joe doesn't believe the cornucopians any more. We live in interesting times.

The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

Bullshit. No one has EVER seen insight or inspiration in your posts.

REALLY??
On my blog at Wordpress.com... people say even nicer things ...

Can I direct the former Herr War Monger who apparently is coming to grips with reality to go visit it?

Some people only think at a rational everyday level of death. Too bad for them. They have religion but without religious experiences. Have you found the key to the Kingdom yet?

I remember my first post, getting chastised for not doing a search first to avoid overlapping topics. Things were a bit pickier then.

Someone said this is a like a pub where you drop in to chat. Well, it is in a way at a few times, but really its usually more like some rehab center, where everybody is carrying their chips on their shoulder and getting more pissed off by the moment as their favorite way of medicating themselves is deprived of them.

Not sure.
This find of late will certainly help.

He's three. We have a little girl now, too, who's almost one. Both are walking and talking (well, sorta talking, in her case).

Me too - Me too...

I figured I'd eventually build up the 'gumption' to start posting here more readily some day, I noticed anything i really wanted to mention was already said by someone else much more eloquently than I could have come up with in the time it takes me to post something. So naturally, been a lurker ever since!

Also remember some nice narriative doomer pr0n.

I also remember how skurred I was as well at the very beginning - and so many other things i wanted to do between now and the eotwawki. but these plans are still just that...

any case - hello class of '04!

Also remembering the first donation drive to get new servers around this joint. Been nice ever since.

looking back at it - lots of memories at this place... glad we're all still around and have the capability to enjoy it a while longer (and hopefully it'll be fun to re-visit this post in 5 years when we're still adequately powered enuf to 'log on').

Good luck! Here's to another 4 prosperous years.... [smilie=lurk.gif]

Just a quick check in. Dealing with peak flooding at the moment. Lots of relatives have had to evacuate their homes. The state has been hit, so far, with three 10 year floods in a week! Did you know you can hear boulders rolling on the bottom of swift water river flooding? Wierd.

I no longer worry about peak oil. That challenge has many solutions. Energy/Electricity is becoming the new currency. Fortunately, that will not reach "Peak" for billions and billions of years. We just need to survive the transition.

So far, for me, it's looking good. It's an amazing time to be alive.

Peace
