There's a difference between collapse, and civil wars. Civil wars are just the natural expression of humans doing what humans do to reorganize themselves from time to time. None of those that you mention is collapse. They are examples of civil disturbance. We even had a civil war here in this country, and it drastically reorganized the playing field; but... people for the most part were still able to buy bread. NOT collapse.

I’ve never touched a penny of his money or my wife’s trust and I’m still a 10%er. Do I benefit off having a condo in Naples, a million dollar house and a 150 acre farm? Sure, but I can’t help he has hundreds of millions. Sure, life is good. But things are about to change drastically. I convinced him 5-6 years ago to buy some gold. He buys 3 monster boxes of gold buffalos when gold was $1200 per oz. He just told my wife he doesn’t need it and just added it to her trust.

I wonder how much is AI eating into tech hiring. It bangs out documents, code, schedules, illustrations at a staggering $500 / month per subscription. Its fast, efficient, as good as your basic entry level code monkey. Draws better art than half the marketing departments out there. One person just driving a slew of agents, constantly crafting the digital world with minimal human resource expenditure... aka jobs.

I wouldn't call it cratering though. For some its a very unfortunate realignment, but it happens from time to time, especially at the bleeding edge of technology.

What’s cratering is, people are broke. They’ve ran up their CC’s and can’t afford to make the payment. CC, auto, home delinquencies are skyrocketing. And now it’s starting to hit the middle / upper class.

I tried it once. It didn't work getting me some old obsolete code for shit. (VBA). But there are folks who do use it around the office in Python and SAS and SQL and whatnot, and have had good experiences with it.

Seems like someone who knows what to DO with code comes in real handy, AI doesn't appear to "think" quite yet. But some have hope.

"Cratering", for those of us familiar with the meaning of it, does seem a bit of a stretch. The boy got laid off a month or so ago, he had a couple interviews last week, one today, a couple second interviews already scheduled for next week. Not little local yokel stuff either, big national/international groups. But it is job hunting, and the convcted felon and sexual assault specialists have never been known for knowing much about running an economy. Hell, the same felon gave the US the Greatest Recession Since The Great Depression last time, maybe he'll go for full blown depression this time?

Well that was quite a rant! Sure the economy is stuffed but it's the basic capitalistic system that stuffs it, not the prior generation or two who just happened to live through the good part of the cycle. All AI is doing is eating into bullshit jobs, jobs that would have gone away in the years ahead anyway. It can't replace electricity generation or fertilizer or asphalt to pave roads, it's useless to humanity. So a bunch of coders, graphic artists and call center workers go into homeless camps, they were heading there anyway, so what? And any energy savings to society AI might have made by eliminating them is offset by the vast electricity and water it consumes. Just another BS techie solution to a problem that never existed. About as useful to society as computer games.
