For my money, the best cold water in the face, take the red pill, lawyerly argued brief about how we are all screwed  is "The Oil Age is Over" by Matt Savinar. Get it from his doomsday website www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net

Otherwise, best depends on how you define it:

Deffreys wrote perhaps the best petroleum geology books

Goldstein wrote the best energy science book

Ruppert wrote the best oil geopolitics conspiracy book

Heinberg wrote the most thoughtful take on future options for society

Kunstler wrote the best rant on and obituary for suburbia

Simmons has a book coming out which is supposed to be the best on the Saudis, but my copy hasn't come yet.

As a general rule, you should always try to read books on both sides of an issue. Otherwise you are setting yourself up to be victimized by false information.

On that basis, I recommend Huber and Mills, "The Bottomless Well", subtitled "The Twilight of Fuel, the Virtue of Waste, and Why We Will Never Run Out of Energy".

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Armageddon', 'i') enjoyed rupperts , crossing the rubicon.

Enjoying works of fiction is fine, but the real question is what did you THINK when reading it? You can tell by how you were reacting when you finished it, laughing uncontrollably and shaking your head being a normal thinking person's reaction.
