First enough of the "theory" already. Hubbert's mathematics as explained in his seminal work in 1956 were definitive. And the answer to your question is easy...global peak oil 2018 and no one noticed.

Amazing how much effort and angst went into this topic here at peakoil.com when all the hysterical consequences ballyhooing turned into such a bust.

Just "say no to drugs" would seem to cover this worry of yours.
