The Houthis have already stated that they will continue their attacks in spite of Biden's "Operation Prosperity Guardian"...... it will be interesting to see what happens next.

I was surprised to see that the Saudis won't be joining Biden's little ship escort service in the Red Sea, considering that it's mainly their oil that transits the Red Sea on the way to Europe. Joe Biden has sure screwed up the decades-long realtionship between the USA and Saudi.

It was just a few years ago that the Saudis were actually at war with the Houthis and Trump was sending the Saudis weapons and declaring the Houthis to be a terrorist group.

But then came Joe Biden....he pressured the Saudis to end their war with the Houthis AND then Biden took the Houthis OFF THE TERRORIST LIST.....and look how thats turned out...... 8O

This whole Houthis problem in the Red Sea is another fine mess that Biden's gotten us into.....

What relationship? The Saudi's have probably despised the US all along, they give the oil and take the dollars in return but they have never once involved themselves in the policing actions that the western empires nations regularly join hands in. Now they are becoming a member of the BRICS things are really changing for them. Soon they'll give the US the middle finger, but until a security arrangement is forged with the other members they'll be happy to have the US do the attack dog work for them.

In the era of the cold war being world police paid a good dividend, but those days are long gone and the US corporate empire is now in the exact same position GB was before the great wars, an empire suffering military overstretch with diminishing returns. In the old days those Houthi would never had tried this on, but they know what everyone else knows, the US doesn't have what it takes anymore.

Don't be silly.

There have been pirates out there attacking shipping since navigation began.

1/ Pentagon Alarmed Over Huge Price Tag Of Countering Cheap Yemeni Drones
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'S')anaa has reportedly fired at least 100 drones toward Israeli-linked commercial vessels for the past month in support of the Palestinian people. US estimates place the cost of the domestic-made drones at $2,000 each. In comparison, each munition used by US warships in the Red Sea cost between $1 million and $4.3 million.

Pentagon's Operation Prosperity Guardian "Falls Apart" As Spain, Italy, France Reject Request
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')ustralia is the latest country to reject a request from the United States to send warships to the Red Sea under the command of the Pentagon's Operation Prosperity Guardian to protect commercial vessels along the critical maritime trade route from Iran-backed Houthi.

There was lots of attacks on shipping leading into the commencement of WWII. It could be just an anomaly and I'm certainly not saying the same cycle is starting here, but leading into WWII there was a lot of tension among the major powers and even the minor ones. Everyone was at everyone's throats and then Germany kicked off the game and the rest of the world went into action. North Korea, China, now Venezuela, all war mongering and seeking new territory, just like Russia did in the ukraine.

Mysterious attacks
on shipping continue in the Mediter
ranean. In one case the attacker is re
ported to have been an Itallan destroyer.
A British destroyer was fired on -by an
unidentified submarine but was not hit.
French indignation is stated to be growing
