Disposable contact lenses

Unread postby frankthetank » Sat 30 Jul 2005, 01:25:52

Doc says that i should wear them about a month. I wear them until they don't feel right (anywhere from 2-5months). I wear the cheapest, Optima FW by Bauch/Lomb.

How long do you wear yours?

I started out with the nondisposable soft lens when i was in my early teens, then moved on to the Optimas. Something makes me think all these new lenses are just marketing gimmicks to sell more.

I'm about ready to stock up on a bunch of boxes because my eye sight hasn't changed in 5 years. I also should get another pair of eyeglasses too.

Can people make glasses without electricity?

I'm pretty sure Ben Franklin invented bifocals... and since electricity was more of a curiousity than a given.. I'm pretty sure you 'can'.

Now, the knowledge and skills are probably very, very rare today.

I'm sure they can make glasses without electricity...but they would be MUCH more expensive. I was thinking about looking at the ugly frames for about $10 and getting about 10 pair...better to see than look good.

Not to mention...who cares what you look like when you're turning the soil in the back 40 :)

Here's a way to make emergency "glasses". If you are near sighted
(can't see at a distance), take a piece of thin cardboard and poke two
pinholes in the cardboard spaced at the same distance as between your eyes. The worse
your near-sightedness the smaller the holes will need to be.
This method does cut down on the amount of light but you will
be surprised at how well you can see.
