$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Bas', 'y')eah, you'd definately need a new sort of (immaterial)attitude to life if you want to live for hundreds of years and stay content with it.

maybe:

live slow, never die, and if you do, still leave a nice corps :-D

Since the thyroid creates so many hormones that control that attitude, if this new treatment doesn't radically affect the thyroid then it shouldn't matter how long your 'cells' live. The thyroid's many hormones will be telling your brain it's time to sleep, quit, stop, die, rest, whatever. I admit I'm no expert but that one gland is ridiculously important to the human body's survival.

The Hubris of trying to escape death can be summed up in the Greek Myth of Tithonus. Tithonus was granted one wish from Zeus and choose eternal life. He did not realize it at the time but eternal youth did not come with his gift of eternal life and he began to grow old. His hair turned white and fell out as did his teeth. He became the most decrepid old man who ever lived. When he was more then 200 years old his body become deformed and he shriveled up into a cricket.

If we are to live forever its more likely that you would have to replace your body with synthetic parts, whatever they may be. I don't know if technology will ever get to the point where you could replace your body with machines ghost in the shell style. I'd say things would have to keep advancing at its current rate for about 30 more years.

Interesting "fact", but are you sure these hormones will surface when your cells are still duplicating? I'm sure there's a way to overcome it though, it might be one of the many big hurdles science will have to take in order to make it work in practice...
