$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('onlooker', 'Y')es, but then what label, do you put on this quote:
“The few who understand the system will either be so interested in its profits or be so dependent upon its favours that there will be no opposition from that class, while on the other hand, the great body of people, mentally incapable of comprehending the tremendous advantage that capital derives from the system, will bear its burdens without complaint, and perhaps without even suspecting that the system is inimical to their interests.” - The Rothschild brothers of London writing to associates in New York, 1863.

The "official" narrative has imbued the term "conspiracy theory", with a negative connotation to mean some crazy paranoid belief. Well, from what I have read some of these conspiracy theories are anything but.

I don't think it's a conspiracy if the rich people in the United States lobby for political influence out of all proportion to those who aren't rich because they can. That's what you call an open secret. It's not a real secret, but because it is a type of secret some will misinterpret it. What makes it work is a kind of apathy among the less well off, they have the power after all. The only equivalency to secrecy is that the people are not involved like they should be in order for their self-interests to come before power. That absence is equal to what would take place if it was a lie prompting people to act that same way, or to allow what is happening. But that's due to the less well off's inability to get involved, for whatever reason. If they don't push for their own interests somebody else will. The rich didn't do it. They are taking advantage. Somebody once said that power abhors a vacuum. Someone else once said that for evil to triumph all that is necessary is for good men to see it and do nothing.

Good post Evil. I would refer to the common definitions " a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful." and "the action of plotting or conspiring.". But in the context of these discussions the former definition seems to be the focus. Also, the outstanding attribute is the wish for the true intention or motives to remain hidden from all those other than the masterminds of the plot. Again, 911 stands out as a textbook example

LOL, the conspiracy theory conspiracy theory.
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

So the 3000+ architects and engineers have been watching too many YouTube videos.

Hooey.

Stay in your comfort zone. I don't need to say that.

If one of those 3000+ believes in chemtrails or flat earth you can have my next paycheck.

So with roughly 110,000 architects in the US

https://www.ncarb.org/press/number-us-architects-2016

and somewhere in the ballpark of 1.6 million engineers in the US

https://www.bls.gov/opub/ted/2016/emplo ... n-2015.htm

by all means, let's use what 3000ish might believe re a conspiracy theory to try to PROVE a conspiracy theory.

This logic reminds me of how AGW deniers try to use a relative handful of scientists blogging or signing some statement expressing doubt in AGW proves that AGW can't be true.

...

What do we call this? Appeal to nonsensical numbers for those too lazy to do a Google search and use logic?

Two related "kill the debate" trigger terms are: "Godwin's Law" and "whataboutism". Both are anti-intellectual nonsense. Godwin's "Law" implies one can never compare the Nazis to any other regime in past, present and future history. Apparently Godwin thought he was God and pulled this "law" straight from his a**. The other one is inane as well, since one can never bring up the behaviour of the self-annointed masters of the universe to discredit their self-given moral "authority".

I think this crap applies globally. All sorts of elites are busy trying to stay in power and keep the boot on the necks of the masses. Some of those masses worship the wielders of the boot as being "successful". In fact, most of their "success" is a racket.

Even Google search now pushes debunking spiels to the top of any conspiracy related query. Even people who are generally very intelligent find the truth impossible to digest, so the palatable lie is appreciatively swallowed.

So conspiracy theory fans can't accept that, generally, conspiracy theories are based on nonsense, and thus aren't credible.

So for rational people, debunking them is more valuable than promoting them.

Or, we should forget science, math, logic, etc. and run around believing that the moon landings never occurred, the earth is flat, 911 Truthers are right despite physics and obvious evidence, and of course my favorite, that the MSM is trying to keep the truth of all such nonsense from the public, instead of helping their business by reporting on "the truth".

Well, Occam's razor and a boatload of evidence says otherwise.

9/11 truthers are generally right because of obvious evidence. Your post proves my point. NIST reports were designed with you in mind & they worked. Since then, you have been blessed with the delight of flat earth theorists etc to bundle up in comfort with the truth, how convenient.

I've watched a bunch of 9/11 truther videos and responses from the skeptics. For me the skeptics win by a mile. Sorry if that hurts your feelings that to me, that conspiracy belongs in the exact same pile as the flat earthers.

A new conspiracy theory called QAnon is being heavily reported on by the MSM. PBS was even showing pictures of people holding up big "Q"s right in front of Trump, clearly trying to link Trump to the Q conspiracy theory.

QAnon

The QAnon stuff seems so wacky to me, I almost wonder if its something being put out there by the libs to smear Trump and the Trumpies.....

But then I've become cynical about American politics and the MSM.

Cheers!

Image
The MSM seems to be trying to link Trump with the "Q" conspiracy theory.....I assume this whole thing is a political "dirty trick" to discredit Trump, or does he really back the "QAnon" theory"?

I find the analysis here a bit superficial. Certainly, they're are suppositions or theories that ard patently wacko and devoid of merit ie. Flat Earth theory. However, other conjectures warrent serious discussion and analysis and should not be summarily dismissed.

And it is naive to believe that Govts, Corporations and other important institutions would not lie to us if it suited them. And that is where the "official" version of a story originates
