I know I've mentioned to some of you how I was working on publishing a ficiton novel called Hate Hubris.

Well, it has been published, and it's up on most of the online retailers now.

Amazon.com

Even though Amazon has it, it's much cheaper on Barnes & Noble:

Barnes & Noble

This particular story isn't about Peak Oil, but my next novel will be set in a slow-crash USA. I'll let everyone know when that one is done and published too.

1) If its posted in the Off Topic section, you really dont need to tell us its off topic in you title post.
2) Why dont you post the first chapter of the book. Or the first few pages. Or something, to give us an idea what its all about.
3) Best of luck with your book sales! :)

1) Fixed.

2) Fair enough then, here is the first chapter in pdf.

3) I'm really not concerned about 'getting rich' from this. I mostly just want to get people to read it. It's a fun read. My dayjob is for the paycheck. ;)

Love. Deception. Seduction. Betrayal. Incest. Murder. Suicide. Hubris. Hate Hubris. As a professional match-maker, Damian thought he knew everything there was to know about women until he met Medea, and his world would never be the same. His life thereafter would become a downward spiral of lust and revenge, a web of love and lies that can only end in murder and suicide. This is the tale of Damian, a man whose arrogance knew no bounds, and the fate that awaited him.

Does this mean I can quit my day job and become a raging alcoholic like most other writers?

I'll tell you how it feels. It feels good to get something that I always wanted to do before I die done before peak oil hits and prevents me from doing it, that's how it feels. It feels damn good.

...now to get back to planning on how I'm going to start up a biodiesel algae farm. Oh, and writing the next novel, of course.

Do writers have to become alcoholics or just be drunk an awful lot? Cause two beers is enough to do me in now a days, I don't think I'd make it to the alky stage.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('BabyPeanut', 'M')edea?

Yes, Medea. And Paris, and Helena. Yes, I named the characters after Greek mythos. I put in tons of literary references in the book. I guess that's what happens when you Major in English and Minor in Greek & Roman literature.

Read it, I promise you'll laugh. Or at least read the sample 1st chapter I posted.

Or not, it's up to you man.

Oh, and it looks like Barnes & Noble has raised the price to match what Amazon is selling it for. The bastards.

You can still get it cheap directly from the publisher for $9.55 before shipping.[/URL]

Hell, paypal me $12 and I'll send you a signed copy. Just send me a PM if you're interested. :-D

Now, to get back to that dayjob of mine...

Energy consumption to jump 10 to 15% once new Airport opens

Unread postby KevO » Mon 18 Sep 2006, 05:20:57

BANGKOK, Sept 18 (TNA) – Oil companies expect demand for jet fuel to increase after Bangkok’s new international airport opens on September 28.

Demand forecasts are based on expectations that the number of flights going through Bangkok will increase. Suvarnabhumi Airport has higher plane, passenger and cargo capacity than current facilities at Bangkok International Airport (Don Muang), which has been Thailand’s primary aviation hub since the 1920s.“The opening of Suvarnabhumi Airport will help the oil industry, because consumption will increase by 10 to 15 percent,”

Playstation 3, horrible power consumer

Unread postby Tuike » Tue 31 Oct 2006, 11:52:13

Interested in videogames? If yes, beware of Sony's new Playstation 3 game console, because it consumes 380 watts of power! PS2 consumes only 45 watts of power in comparison.

Better stick with board games, they don't require power, and in a case of blackout, you can play them in candlelight. 8)

Oh, yeah, sure - BOARD GAMES!

How are the youth of America supposed to maintain thier obesity, Attention Deficit Disorder, and Type 2 Diabetes if they turn off thier video games. Sheesh - next you'll want them to ride bikes and, like, join a soccer team or something.

Let's see, connect the PS3 to a 50" plasma and you're looking at over 800 watts.

Does it make me evil that, despite these numbers, I would love a set-up like this?

My 55'' plasma is about 500 watts in use, 40 watts standby (but I flip the power supply switch at night). It's good to know ahead of time that the PS3 will be so much, but I will definitely be getting one and playing it on my 55'' plasma. You know, you're not going to be able to do that kind of thing at some point in the future. Might as well do so know while the USD you're making are worth something.
