I was going to start my red blush scallion seeds and play Fallout 3.

At least I can watch "Lost" next week in peace, so I won't be PO'd and actually go out and vote against Obama in 2012.

There is no doubt after listening to part of his speech that he is "The Best Used Car Salesman That The USA Ever Produced." He could sell Ice To Eskimoes.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '7'):12PM OK. Now I’m mad. That rat-f*cker just claimed to support the protestors in Iran? He said maybe ONE thing since June of ‘08, and did nothing to actually help? I used to just disdain Obama. Now I hate him.

I liked almost everything he had to say. It's great to have a president who knows how to pronounce nuclear. He is going to freeze government spending next year.

That's when to inflate the money.

Everyone will have to live within a straitjacket budget.

That is going to shrink everything.

I liked everything he had to say too... in the campaign. The man's a goddamn liar. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Wise up, Revi. He's not freezing government spending. Government employment is greater than private sector employment in the USA. You would need to greatly reduce the size of government spending and employment to get the USA back on track to where we need to be.

I liked how he repeated his War on Earmarks bit. After signing over 14,000 of them into law in 2 bills. A gifted and amazing liar.

OK.

Broken campaign promises:
1. The public will have 5 days to look over every bill
2. Make government open and transparent
3. Institute gift ban on lobbyists
4. No more secrecy
5. No more spying on American citizens and treating them like terrorists.
6. I'll bring the troops home immediately, "take that to the bank".
7. I won't install lobbyists in my administration
8. Make it impossible for congress to slip in pork barrel projects
9. Put every corporate tax break online for every American to see
10. Promised not to raise middle class taxes (Cap and Trade??)
11. He wouldn't negotiate behind closed doors on health care policy matters but would be on CSPAN (but he did meet secretly with health care with industry lobbyists).
12. He campaigned against Bush's increased spending and pledged to cut spending.

Obama...the most inexperienced person in the room, any room, has the audacity to lecture America....

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '[')b]Obama never changes policies, he only changes tactics to make people think he is changing policies.

Obama's answer for America: more of me

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'Y')ou'll keep singing until you get it right."

That seems to be the defining principle of the Obama administration -- whose response to every problem, every setback, every hiccup and challenge has been, simply, "more Obama."

Indeed, for people who aren't sticklers for political jargon, it will be a shock that last night was Obama's first State of the Union Address, since it was his third formal address to a joint session of Congress. Yet for all of the political déjà vu, what was most surprising last night was the degree to which Obama delivered even more of the same.

That implies that there is a way to fix things.

There were a few decent players, and several really awesome talents in that room last
night. But looking around, I saw a bunch of jaded has beens, mealy mouthed and nasty
from being for sale for so many years, and unable to get enough up to make a winning
team.

They don't have a team, and they sure don't have game, but they dress nice and they
have been there a long time and many years ago, they had some goods times and
they like to talk about them endlessly.

We are on our own pretty much, and they are going to hurt us directly or due to
working for other interests while we try to do the best we can locally or regionally.

Something about Obama reminds me of that character Tom Grunick (the one played by William Hurt) from the movie "Broadcast News"

Just watched Trump's 2018 SOTU speech.

I thought he did a great job. Of course, expectations are pretty low for a Trump speech, and given the low expectations I thought the speech was good and Trump did himself proud.

I'm watching the speech on PBS, and they immediately started bashing him after the speech. No surprise there.

It took Trump a year to figure out how to use the teleprompter and stick to the script. I don't know if Trump had a "coach" on salary in the White House to teach him how to give a speech like Obama did, but he's got it down good.

CONGRATS to TRUMP.

Trump's detractors are claiming his speech is divisive. They also give Obama the credit for the current economic conditions. There is some lag in the economic response to policies and taxes, but it is hard to see where Obama gets any credit. If Trump is having any effect on reducing offshoring and even causing repatriation of jobs, then he deserves the credit for a substantial fraction of the current economic state.

They shouldn't have picked a Kennedy to do a rebuttal speech in a place called Fall River.

His speech was a disaster. Who heard a word he said with that grease on his face?

It was Joe Kennedy III's big moment on national TV, and he looked like he was either drooling spittle or he had just eaten some greasy chicken and failed to wipe the corners of his mouth. There were big shiny spots on his face that looked like grease, and once you saw the grease on his face, you couldn't unsee it. Every time he'd move his head a little the spittle would flash in the lighting, like two greasy spots at the corners of his mouth.
