Stuck in a corner, trapped by your own device. You guys despise Kunstler and started a thread to prove that. Well, you failed and you are now yapping at each other. ha ha ha

Flagged. Would you care to spend the holidays without your fix of peakoil.com trolling? If you want to put people in an ignore filter, STOP ENGAGING, else you are just passive-aggressive trolling.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'Y')ou guys despise Kunstler and started a thread to prove that.

I know exactly why I started this thread. And it had nothing to do with proving anything. So this statement of yours isn't lying at this point, more like just saying as true that you can't know, and therefore isn't true out of ignorance. The real question being, is this your normal state of posting, just LOOKING like you are lying because you imagine some reason, and then pretend its real, and look stupid, or you know better, and just lie because it is what you want to do?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'T')rump is the archetypal PIG. Pushes his weight around, against men and woman. He is the last of his kind. I guarantee it.

You seem to be using Guarentee as your word of the day in each thread you contribute too. Either you are absolutly sure you are right, or you fear you are wrong and are blustering to convinc yourself. At this point I can’t tell which it is.

You've made a dozen posts to deride a man who doesn't even post here.

I don't believe I have posted in this thread about Jim a dozen times, no. So..are you lying, or just saying something you believe but didn't check first, and are just sort of lying because you are ignorant?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', '

Don't like Kunstler's message? I'm not sure I know what that is. He whines. Not a fan of certain types of architecture. Knows nothing about the oil and gas business. If you want to discuss his "message", you would have to enunciate it for him. I find it easier to just stick to what he has written or said. You know, Y2K and peak oil claims, his commentary in End of Suburbia and whatnot.

Then why do you do it? For instance, how many times have you accused Adam of being an oil-industry shill?

Seriously, I've never come across a guy who lives by more of a double-standard.

I really like his take on things. I think Peak Oil peaked in 2008, so maybe it's not as popular as it once was.

Kunstler: 2017 Year in Review

Unread postby AdamB » Sat 23 Dec 2017, 11:30:41

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', ' ')
2017 was the kind of year when no amount of showers could wash off the feeling of existential yeccchhhhh that crept over you day after day like jungle rot. You needed to go through the carwash without your car… or maybe an acid bath would get the stink off. Cinematically, if 2016 was like The Eggplant That Ate Chicago, then 2017 was more like Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, a gruesome glimpse into the twisted soul of America. And by that I do not mean simply our dear leader, the Golden Golem of Greatness. We’re all in this horror show together. 2017 kicked off with the report by “seventeen intelligence agencies” — did you know there were so many professional snoops and busybodies on the US payroll? — declaring that Russia, and Vladimir Putin personally, tried to influence the 2016 presidential election. “Meddling” .

Kunstler: Christmas Story

Unread postby AdamB » Mon 25 Dec 2017, 22:46:55

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
')These are the long, dark hours when cis-hetero white patriarchs sit by the hearth chewing over their regrets for the fading year and expectations for the year waiting to be born. I confess, I like Christmas a lot, Hebrew that I am, perhaps the musical and sensual trappings more than the virgin birth business. Something in my mixed Teutonic blood stirs to the paganism of blazing Yule logs, fragrant fir trees, rousing carols, and snow on snow on snow. I hope we can keep these hearty ceremonies… that they are not banished to the same puritanical limbo where the Prairie Home Companion archives were sent to rot. One surviving old chestnut of the season is the 1946 movie, It’s a Wonderful Life, a movie so thick with gooey holiday sentiment, it’s like bathing in egg nog. It’s larded with messages of

I posted a Christmas carol on my facebook page yesterday and it was promptly deleted as being hate speech. (I got a notice of deletion) The term 'Gaily' was used in the song, and I can only guess that it was censored as being anti-homosexual, which of course is absurd.

The tune 'Carol of the bells' was written in 1920 and it predates homosexuals going by the term 'Gay'. To be Gay, was to be happy. In the 1920's the term for homosexuals would have been 'Fag' or 'Faggot'. It is my favorite X-mas song because it sounds differently depending on who sings it. Female vocalists sound differently that male vocals, and mixed choirs sound differently as well. Instrumentals are often played faster and this sounds unique as well.

He's actually being nostalgic... sort of. Somewhere behind the kunstler lyrical bravado is a soft hearted brockport boy yearning for his lake effect past.

eat a christmas cookie, buddy. One that's loaded with bud, preferably. Then go paint something

Kunstler: The Year in Trump

Unread postby AdamB » Mon 01 Jan 2018, 23:28:28

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', ' ')
There he is, our president, both immovable object and irresistible force, unsmiling with slitty eyes beneath that car-hood of a hair-doo, lumbering from one presidential prerogative to the next through squalls of opprobrium, perplexing leaders from foreign lands, punking congressmen and senators, inducing swoons of un-safeness among the zhes, theys, and thems on campus, provoking the op-ed bards of The Times to mouth-foaming hysterics, tweeting any old thing that flies through the interstices of his brain-pan, our Golden Golem of Greatness, MAGA sword in smallish hand against a swirling red sky. Well, he made it through the year. I thought the fucker would be sandbagged by a claque of Pentagon patriots inside of three months, but I was wrong, wrong, wrong. What seems to be forgotten is that Donald Trump brought his own swamp to Washington, as in a history of hinky

Kunstler is like my Grandpa when he was achy and ticked off all the time. In the blog world he is the guy in the door yelling "Get off my lawn" at the neighborhood kids.

Kunstler: Forecast 2018 — What Could Go Wrong?

Unread postby AdamB » Tue 02 Jan 2018, 11:25:36

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', ' ')
Markets If you take your cues from Consensus Trance Central — the cable news networks, The New York Times, WashPost, and HuffPo — Trump is all that ails this foundering empire. Well, Trump and Russia, since the Golden Golem of Greatness is in league with Vladimir Putin to loot the world, or something like that. Since I believe that the financial system is at the heart of today’s meta-question (What Could Go Wrong?), it would be perhaps more to the point to ask: what has held this matrix of rackets together so long? After all, rackets are characterized by pervasive lying and fraud, meaning their operations don’t add up. Things that don’t comport with reality are generally prone to failure so sooner or later they have to implode. Financial markets have been surging supernaturally on “liquidity” since 2009 — and by “liquidity” I
