I think thats what gets me. The simplistic agner in the song, then the coming buildup with the intro........
Yes, theres definately better drum solos (In a gada di vida comes to mind) but for a simplistic power.......Megadeath. Oh yeah.

And I was gonna do some coke off a hookers ass, she when I called her she said you had her booked for the entire week. So I'm waiting for you to finish with that ass before I can get it. :-D

:lol: Can't tell how good a drummer is from a photo. Somebody mentioned Led Zeppelin's drummer. I too was impressed by that guy, before he ODed, in a concert here in SD. The best drummers are jazz drummers. They understand the sensuality-intellect interface. The physicist Feynman was proud of his bongo abilities and entered a bongo contest once. He lost and they told him his bongoing was too 'intellectual', ie. to complex in its rhythms. I bet I would have liked his bongo playing. Jazz drummers, the top ones, can bring intriguing variations into the mix and you feel the presence of intelligence. This Megadeath solo is just artless clubbing.

I was thinking about that before you posted. I can't recall any names, but its just something I've noticed. Truth is I tend to remember the saxophone and trumpet players. I collect jazz music because I love it. But I'm not informed enough to comply with your request/fuck-you-put-your- money-where-your-mouth-is demand. :-D I've heard it though, marvelous jazz drumming, better than the rockers.

Here's some of my favorites: Lester Young and Billie Holliday, Coleman Hawkins, Gerry Mulligan, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Ben Webster. There are many more, Jazz is America's contribution to Civilization.

I used to play the sax. Tenor to be precise. Did quite a few years with a piano as well.

Betchya never figured a hotheaded hardass like myself would play the sax and piano eh? :oops:

No one mentioned Danny Carey of TOOL yet? Man, he is the best drummer on the planet, hands down.

Listen to the end of 46 & 2........ incredible. He looks like Vishnu when he plays.

I have absolutely no idea how in the world that guy can play a song for more than ten minutes at a time and hit every note.

Tool was mentioned earlier, just not the drummer specifically. While I am not necessarily a big Tool fan in general, I really think their Aenima album was a masterpiece. Of particular interest is the song Aenima itself, specifically as it about hoping the superficial wasteland that we know of as L.A. (and I suspect the world in general) is destroyed in some sort of catastrophic natural event. Anyway, many Tool songs are not just complemented by excellent drumming, they are being driven through rhythm, a major contributing factor of the slightly eerie, hypnotic qualities of the Tool sound.

Edit: That's what I get for getting up to use the bathroom in the middle of composing my post! :oops:
