So, what is you opinion of the information on the website?

I would greatly appreciate your opinion on this as this forum is dedicated to such a topic and you odviously know more on the subject than me at present.

I am really looking forward to learning more. The website linked above is the first one that introduced me to the Peak Oil issue and I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.

Interesting is certainly one word for it. I was surprised to see that Nick Griffin made an appearance at the Edinburgh conference back in April. It's interesting that the BNP are the most popular party (polling around 2% where they contest) talking about peak oil. It's also scary since if the collapse is particularly bad the public could lose faith in the current government and look around for an alternative. The BNP could in an instant pop up from nowhere with a peak oil agenda. Desperate people in desperate times could vote in desperate ways.

Remember in 1928 the Nazi Party won only 2.8% of the popular vote, in 1930 it won 18.3% and in July 1932 it gained a massive 37.3%. Books have been written on why this was but I think the depression was a significant factor. Peak oil could bring a similar depression to UK shores.

Opps, guess I just lost the argument! ;)

I checked it out and it seems to be on the same page as what we are all thinking about (well, most of us). I read the Apocalypse section and its just like what I read on Savinar's site last year. What more is there to say or do about this? Its just a matter of waiting for the shoe to drop. There's trouble ahead and this is one more site saying so.

I found this statement from the website:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he BNP is making peak oil a high profile issue for a number of reasons.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'W')e are the only political party making this an issue at the moment.

I suspect that's true; the Economist sometimes addresses British politics, and neither Labor nor the Torys seem to be attuned to peak oil. Certainly none of the U.S parties are.

If the BNP can increase awareness, then perhaps they will have performed a great service to England - and even to the world.

Oh yeah, they are not saying anything that hasn't been said by many others for many years... I think the point here is just who's saying it.

I came across the BNP site on Peak Oil a few days ago. Very good I must say. I especially liked those videos where that chap describes Peak Oil with the help of cups.

Ofcourse I am deeply distrustful of the motives of the far right. But on the other hand if they are brave enough to talk about Peak Oil which the mainstream parties are not, I'm think they would deserve any political gains they make as a result of a political realignment post peak oil.

I'm trying to remember where I got the link to the BNP PO site. Was the link put on energybulletin.net?

My understanding is the BNP is composed largely of buffoons. So was the NSDAP, a little German party, until times got truly bad, then some really capable people we at loose ends and went into it and "supercharged" it. The same can be expected to happen with the BNP - hard times will bring a lot of unemployed but very capable people into their ranks. Sad that the major parties never talk about important things like Peak Oil, and the job is left to fringe parties like the BNP.
