Pete you seem very lonely today, do you need someone to talk too?

What about commercial fishing? A lot of fishermen are back using Lake Erie now that the Zebra and Quagga mussels have clarified the water and the fish stocks have recovered.

There are charter fishing boats in most ports along the coast that will take you out after whatever kind of fish tickles your tastebuds. The big popular one around here is Lake Erie Perch, many local resturaunts will buy fresh catch to serve the public. At least they used too, I suppose these days the fish has to be USDA inspected or something before they can serve it.

I see a problem for the vegans of the future. In a post peak world farming will have to make do with a lot less commercial fertilizer and of course Vegans don't want any pesticides or herbicides used to produce their veggies. That is being done on some farmland today. One of the most successful operations (no connection to me or endorsement of) is Brown's ranch near Bismark N.D. between cash crops of soybeans, corn and other grains they plant multi species cover crops to draw nitrogen from the air and graze livestock of several species to utilize the forage produced by the cover crop and enrich the soil with their waste products. The grazing animals are a necessary part of the soil life cycle and the methods used have doubled soil carbon levels over twenty years of experimentation and development.
The problem is for the Vegans what to do with the chickens , beef , pork and sheep, raised in the rotation if they won't eat it. Ship the beef to feed the starving in India I suppose? :o
