Good-bye, everyone!

What's on your mind?
General interest discussions, not necessarily related to depletion.

Hahaha... Your humour is sometimes so Oz style ;)

Shall we name a few?

Mosennui was pretty dramatic
Vision Master, must have died suddenly, or been banned?
American Dream, how many times can you throw the bat & ball? Now banned or reincarnated.

I remember one broke the pattern was peakoiler, who announced quite poignantly his intention to leave, was met with a lot of support & found he had friends here & didn't leave.

I think a visit to Oz next year after I retire is probably in order. I'll even buy the first rounds of beer.

Looking forward to show you & the Missus around Victoria some, we have a spare room 20 mins from Melbourne by train. Hope you like Asian grub ;)

Edit, if you plan ahead you can bring hunting gear & have a shooters license waiting for you. The deer season has been crazy this year.

Sea Gypsy and Cog meeting up for a beer in OZ is perhaps the best place to leave Timo's announcement of his resignation. Timo and I actually did meet for a beer, he is the only peak oil member that I have met personally when he visited us here in Panama. We had a great time. Good Luck Timo......

I thought so. Kind of weird to diss off the site you met someone on compelling enough to travel to cloud forest Panama to greet in person.

It seems some people expect more than what they find here, which is the production of a couple of dozen die hard posters the last few years, with the odd one joining in each year & as many leaving. To survive here you have to accept that we are not going to change the world noticeably. There is solace in being able to communicate with a group of people who mostly accept a few fundamental truths about the reality of the human trajectory. There is some comfort in speaking truth to power, whether the power responds or as usual does not. The site has a lot more readers than posters & as meager a voice as the forum gives us, it is still a voice. Peak oil isn't going anywhere anytime soon, it's a huge issue for the rest of our lives, for everyone, whether they know about it or don't, or don't want to know or do. In the last category, there are still new folks signing up daily, mostly to read the member's forums. The value in this community may not be as apparent to those who are part of it as to these newbies, who we should remember are often at a vulnerable emotional state.

I'm just here to chat about the news with a few sane people.

Good couple of posts Sea and Cog and Ibon.

My new favorite quote comes from our marriage counsellor......

"Since its unlikely either of you will have a personality transplant you need to learn how to adjust and live happily together."

I find that requires each of us to do some personal growing up.

If you come to a forum expecting to change minds, good luck. If you come expecting to hear divergent opinions with a chance to learn something you may find it worthwhile.

Not that I'm a shining example, just stating my goals. I'm still about 16 inside, just 65 outside!

I like that very much Newfie! It is pretty much the second order function of this forum, the first naturally being the education about peak oil issues.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Alfred Tennyson', 'W')e are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

OP...no use burning bridges. If it does nothing for you right now it cost nothing to keep an account and check back periodically.
