refining margins

Unread postby oilstud » Mon 11 Jul 2005, 22:46:40

Hi there

I'm a student from Belgium and I am performing a survey on refining and the problems that are involved such as to high capacity utilization rates, sour crude, evolutions in regulation, ...
Until now, almost all I wanted to know was easy to find, especially on US sites.
But about one topic I have troubles to find information, REFINING MARGINS.
Seemingly these margins are quite important in refining economics, but I still don't know how they are calculated/formed, what influences these margins, what is the link between crude price and margins,...
I just would like to know everyting that is important to know about this topic.
I know this isn't really a site about downstream processing but anyway I hope there will be someone able to pass me some information, texts, links, files or visions about this topic.

Thanks
Greetz
