Yes, I'd read that a lot of cars have been stored. That stone quarry near Toledo is interesting: was it already closed so the rail line was available for use? What stone was quarried there?

Other than a few sand and gravel pits all the stone quarries around here are limestone. It gets used for building material, gravel road paving, and cement production. The quarry in question has been closed for well over a decade. Technically the spur goes south from the rail yard and ends at Stoney Ridge, Ohio. They started filling it up from the south end a few weeks ago, they have to put gaps for each road crossing so it's not one long set but more like dashes half a mile long separated by quarter mile gaps at the road crossings.
