Here's an obscure band called DFlowers doing "Elevate Your Mind". I found this song by accident about 10 years ago:

My theme song:

I don't wanna go outside
I like to be where I can hide
friends are not important to me
a sheltered life is what I lead

sit home and rot (ROT)
sit home and rot (ROT)
sit home and rot (ROT)
sit home

Girls well they're a pain
but I’d rather watch TV anyway
sit at home and play Atari
smoke my herb like rastifi

I don’t wanna go and play
at home is where I’d rather stay
watching movies all the time
drinking all this beer and wine

Postby PeakOiler » Sat 02 Apr 2016, 15:20:42

I've been listening to a lot of Antonio Vivaldi lately, especially The Four Seasons, in various arrangements, and other classical baroque music. I have always liked progressive rock too, especially YES and the older Genesis music with Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett, Jethro Tull, Gentle Giant. and even Joe Satriani and others excellent musicians.

The most recent CD and DVD I have purchased was Max Richter's "Recomposed Vivaldi-The Four Seasons." The DVD live concert was recorded in Berlin. The violin re-arranged solos and ensemble were awesome, and some electronic textures were added on and between songs. Excellent.

Next month I am going to see Jon Anderson (former lead singer with YES) and Jean Luc Ponty, violinist: the Anderson/Ponty band, in Austin. I am also going to go see Todd Rundgren next month with his new band.

I have also read that Jon Anderson, Rick Wakeman, and Trevor Rabin are working on some new music.
There’s a strange irony related to this subject [oil and gas extraction] that the better you do the job at exploiting this oil and gas, the sooner it is gone.

PO

Yes were legends in their day for sure. I listen to lots of the old stuff....love the early synth and '70's underground (one of my fave earlies is Grandfunk Railroad from way back in the early 70's...not the later stuff which kinda got commercial)...when music expressed the impulse of a whole generation. History in all its forms fascinates me, and of course music is a big part of modern mans expression of who he is (works for me anyways). Grunge expressed the angst of my generation but that said, I don't straitjacket myself...life is too short to live in a bubble...so yeah, some good stuff in there and cheers mate.
