Caspian oil and gas deposit estimated at 1 billion tonnes

Unread postby tdrive » Sat 09 Jul 2005, 14:38:22

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he anticipated recoverable reserves of a Caspian Sea oil and gas deposit are estimated at 1 billion metric tons, a press release of the project's joint venture said Wednesday.

1 billion tonnes are 7 billion barrels. The Caspian Sea Kurmangazy ERR have been shrinking and the lifting costs rizing ever since they did the proper explorations. Not too long ago the Caspian was supposed to be the new Saudi Arabia.

On the other hand, it still contains more than the remaining US ERR.

IMO,

the bust of the Caspian Sea resulted in what we see today.

You are correct about US. The total Caspian reserves (not just that field) are estimated to be a bit over what US has now.

Just a different perspective on these numbers.

20-22 GB left in the US and Tl Caspian reserves = 40-44 GB

Daily consumption 83 million barrells

44,000 / 83 = 530 days supply, essentially we need more alot more.
