After watching the video, youtube led me to a lot of videos of terriers of various breeds killing rats. Apparently "ratting" is a big deal in the UK. Wholesome fun for the whole family. Dogs are entertained, rats are killed by the bucket-load, and kids learn about the circle of life. I would imagine that PETA would frown on such events in the USA.

Terriers are good snake dogs too, but cats can be efficient snake hunters too.
But eventually their reflexes slow and the snake wins.
A friend here has a few terriers and quite a few taipans, she loses one dog every few years and another friend had a Siamese cat that used to constantly kill extremely venomous snakes.
