$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('davep', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Cog', 'I') sighted in my AR yesterday and no one made me do it.

I did the same with my .22LR (my favourite arm for improving accuracy).

I don't think anyone made me do it. But that's probably what they want me to think.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('onlooker', 'Y')es, the world we live in has been manufactured for us so we will be exactly who we are, consumers and workers. It is not mere coincidence. Our sources of information keep us blind to the nature of the world and our illusion of freedom makes us complacent about trying to understand our situation. The creators of our reality and have an admirable job and now that the inevitable course of events are leading us all to catastrophe, they want to control us even more by eavesdropping on us and tightening the noose of security and force around us. So at least some of us recognize the Matrix we live in.

My teenage daughter got her first letter in the mail today from the credit card company (really a debit card). It was sort of a bill and I explained 'Welcome to reality.' but quickly corrected myself, 'Welcome to the reality ECONOMISTS have given us'. If it were real NATURE reality, we'd have just gone fishing or something.

Nice simple point J, yes as a city dweller I am more and more yearning to just live out "there" in the woods somewhere forget about civilization. Kind of like this movies I once saw with Robert Redford "Jeremiah Johnson"

Try before you buy OL. If you can get a year out of commitments in the city & sublet your home (air bnb?) Go visit some folks from here or elsewhere connected & do some free hard slog. There's always a welcome for a willing worker just about everywhere, just don't expect to earn a lot of money. I'm not sure if you caught much of a poster here called Loki, a bit younger than us, professional, dropped out to go dirt farming a few years ago, his posts are great for a blend of timeline realities & psychological adjustments. He just finished a trailer based solar electric system. Real down to earth stuff a normal person can do without winning lotto.

Yes Sea I have looked into "Green" off the grid living. Though I always got the impression you needed a large down payment to get up and running. My contacts as it were is basically my sister who is still bogged down living the "fantasy" normal life, she owns a business. I am very close to her and would hesitate to do anything without her and husband on board. She is not very well versed in this doomer thing and her idea of leaving the rat race is retirement in the Poconos in Pennsylvania - US. Oh I forgot to mention my wife is disabled so obviously I would not leave her. Under other circumstances with sufficient initial funds I would be somewhere far away from city pretty much off grid as I am so sick and tired of city life. As it is I feel committed to my family and thus to my circumstances as they currently are. Oh well could be worse I could be living in MENA region.

No, a CZ 452 Varmint that I had threaded for a suppressor. It's a tack-driver.

It depresses me that my commie state of Illinois does not yet allow suppressors. But that will change when I move to Tennessee.

I was born in north western PA, family mostly from South Carolina before the civil war. Still have family around Ohio & NC. For ranching small scale last time I looked Tennessee had the best value deals anywhere in the world, I believe Cog here is headed that way soon.

Tinfoil externalization again. Evasion of responsibility. Stop blaming "them" and recognize that the perpetuation of BAU is a two-way street.

It's extremely difficult to extricate oneself from BAU, no matter what your convictions. That's not quite the same level of responsibility as those actively ensuring we stay ensnared.

I have my dad's old Winchester 69A which is a .22 bolt action with a 25" full length barrel, a good trigger, and peep sight, so it's about as as accurate as you can get in a field-grade gun with iron sights. I think a set-up like this is one of those "must have" items. Firing shorts, it is almost completely silent, and I use those on nuisance squirrels.
