At least 87 people have died after a crane collapsed on the Grand Mosque in the Muslim holy city of Mecca, the Saudi Arabian government has said.
More than 180 people were injured in the accident, the country's civil defence authority said on Twitter.
Images from the scene showed part of a huge red crane crashed through the mosque's roof. The cause of the collapse is not known.
Mecca is currently preparing for the annual Muslim Hajj pilgrimage.

What is the "irony" here? Everyone knows that 911 was plotted from a cave in Afghanistan by a disowned member of the bin Laden family. Nothing to do with Saudi Arabia, our staunchest ally in the volatile Mideast. Although some tin hatters think otherwise.Facebook knows you're a dog.

Of course they put an Egyptian in charge, so they had some leadership. BTW most of the terrorists came from the "07" area in Saudi. 07 refers to the telephone area code in the area next to Yemen on the Red Sea. My Saudi co-workers used to say the only thing that came out of that area were Terrorists or Generals. Harsh lands bring up harsh people.
