Have you even watched an interview with Caldicott? She looks freaky, acts senile and screams frequently. If you saw such a person as her approaching you on the street, you would probably cross to the other side to avoid her.

FYI somebody once tried to refer me to AAAS links. The web site says that membership is open to anybody who pays dues, they are up front with partisan positions on a whole variety of topics including Global Warming, Education, Abortion, etc. The legal definition of the AAAS in the USA is a PAC (Political Action Committee). They should not be used as a primary reference.

Kaiser your letting bias interfere with you objective judgement of the credibility of Dr. Caldicott . So she looks freaky so what. As for AAAS I cited them because they chose to believe "past studies" and take a hard-line stand by saying unequivocally that LNT modeling is wrong sort of like you are saying kaiser. So which study is correct. For my money any dose is unsafe.

“Radiation is Good for You!”
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'M')eanwhile, other nuclear proponents began pushing a theory they named “radiation hormesis” that claimed that the LNT standard was incorrect and that a little amount of radioactivity was good for people.

A leader in the U.S. advocating hormesis has been Dr. T. D. Luckey. A biochemistry professor at the University of Missouri-Columbia and visiting scientist at Argonne National Laboratory, he authored the book Hormesis and Ionizing Radiation and Radiation Hormesis and numerous articles. In one, “Radiation Hormesis Overiew,” he contends: “We need more, not less, exposure to ionizing radiation. The evidence that ionizing radiation is an essential agent has been reviewed…There is proven benefit.” He contends that radioactivity “activates the immune system.” Dr. Luckey further holds: “The trillions of dollars estimated for worldwide nuclear waste management can be reduced to billions to provide safe, low-dose irradiation to improve our health. The direction is obvious; the first step remains to be taken.” And he wrote: “Evidence of health benefits and longer average life-span following low-dose irradiation should replace fear.”

A 2011 story in the St. Louis Post Dispatch quoted Dr. Luckey as saying “if we get more radiation, we’d live a more healthful life” and also noted that he kept on a shelf in his bedroom a rock “the size of a small bowling ball, dotted with flecks of uranium, spilling invisible rays” It reported that “recently” Dr. Luckey “noticed a small red splotch on his lower back. It looked like a mild sunburn, the first sign of too much radiation. So he pushed the rock back on the shelf, a few inches farther away, just to be safe.”

AAAS is the American Association for the Advancement of Science is a nonprofit which has been around since 1848 and publishes "Science" the largest peer reviewed publication in the US. So yeah you're better off following your horoscope.

Citing the opinions of one whack job to support those of another are just whack. Nobody with an education would claim radiation is healthy. But then no life form on this planet has ever lived in an environment with zero radiation. In fact, the exposure to radiation has been substantial based on current anti-nuclear hysterical "standards". This of course begs the question: maybe Earth lifeforms have the ability to resist radiation at non-zero levels. And the answer would be: of course they do. So the LNT is a pile of BS a mile high. There is a reason why our DNA and associated machinery (e.g. production of proteins) has built in error correction. This is an obvious feature of life in a molecular damage inducing environment. If life conformed to the Lysenko-like voodoo science of the LNT, then all of these error correction mechanisms would simply not be there. DNA features evolve through necessity and not for the hell of it.

People should do some research before preaching their corrupt gospels.
