$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ibon', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Timo', '
')The only downside to harvesting that many cherries is the obligatory extraction of the pits. That is the pits! I just wish there was some use for that seed, like maybe roasting it for coffee!!

back in the olden days cherry pits were dried and stuffed into pillows. These were put on the top of wood burning stoves on cold winter nights and when nice and hot these cherry pit pillows would be brought to bed and stay warm for a long time, kind of like a hot water bottle.

Well, that might have a use at 6500 feet, or wherever it's cold out, but right now, it's 80 degrees outside at 10:00 at night, with 80% humidity. I think sleeping with an ice pack is more appropriate under these conditions. Then on cold nights, well, I gots me a woman to keep me warm. :twisted:

BTW, Ibon, the Wizard of Oz gave me nightmares as a kid that lasted well in to high school! I hated that bicked witch! And that child catcher on Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang, too! Watching that movie just one time soured my taste for candy to this day! But I really do want a flying car!

I was just posting and a line of thought has been materializing within my head. Perhaps one may see it as idealistic in the same way as this initial post by Ibon can be thus interpreted. It involves the conditions that will take hold upon Earth. I am not a trained Earth scientist like Ibon but I am appreciating a point of view which someone like Ibon has. If one can accept the die off of many humans albeit with the accompanying misery that entails what lies on the other side of the bottleneck for Earth and it's inhabitants is again what is alluded to on this thread a more pristine world. Now the denouement of this world may take awhile but that is what a scientist is trained to do take a longer term view and this whole process will afford a second chance for humanity. Earth will not be as bountiful for a very long time, we will have learned a difficult lesson in stewardship and how our vices led to this calamity. This will unveil an opportunity to live in balance and harmony with each other and with nature. Because this period reveals to all who study it a terrible unbalance and disconnect in us with each other and nature. This lack of harmony is what we hopefully will have a chance to regain. So I do subscribe completely with the premise of this thread created by Ibon.

Too much desire for 'harmony' is not a good thing. The mature perspective is shown in how inevitable conflict is handled, whether you are talking about a family or international relationships. Even internal conflict always exists & must be reconciled whether by filling the space with noise or the presence of the divine or anything in between. There is precious little harmony & it is never forced, it is a natural occurrence.
