You continue, @Whithnail, to call people names who are trying to carry on a conversation where intelligent speculation is justified. I would hope that you could focus on the conversation and less on calling people names, please.

I'm communicating with Six Strings. It's the only language he understands or deserves.

Now, perhaps you could tell us where you are from. My guess is Ukraine.

If you want to call Six names you could always use a PM instead of doing it here in the public thread. I certainly wouldn't mind.

I am from the UK. Where are you from?

I asked you some questions first. You're not answering any questions at all. You're just being hyper aggressive. If you want to know where I'm from, be civil and answer my questions which were put to you first.

What country are you from?

Look at your passport if you're not sure.

Once you've answered that question, we can move on.

Are you ashamed of your country? Personally I'm very patriotic and proud to announce I'm British.

Is there an admin or moderator on this thread? I would report the user @Withnail for trollish behavior. The user's behavior has several characteristics listed in the article below. The user is name calling, sowing agitation, posting off topic and pushing down posts that took time and effort to compose and that are on topic.

What country are you from?

Simple question, one word answer.

Are you from Ukraine? Yes or no?

It looks a bit odd, frankly, that you refuse to answer.

Doesn't seem that trollish to me, considering the forum we're on, dedicated as it is to ..... DOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM.

We are often quite agitated here; and the question is simple, and easy enough to lie about anyway if you want. He asked if you're from Ukraine. You can answer yes or no as you wish, without regard to any fact. Personally, as you haven't referenced bodily functions, body parts, or sexual orientation that you are more likely a Westerner with a pro-NATO and pro-NATO-narrative point of view; the intensity of your comments coupled with your very low post count makes me suspicious that you're either a paid poster, or have some vested interest in the issue (both of which are fine by me, and take nothing away from any content you post).

One of the things that has caused me some disappointment however, is that many on the side of the West seem dedicated to the belief that if anyone does not support their point of view, they must be a paid troll doing it only for the financial reason. Such an attitude is extremely repulsive. (shoe other foot, feel funny?)

Perhaps you're just trying to silence one of the few forums where the Russia/Ukraine situation is not overwhelmed with innane body part diatribes and NATO love fest sonatas? I doubt it'll work.

He's just trying to string the post count to heck and disrupt content by stringing you along.

Just assume the answer is no; he's from the US or UK, maybe Australia, but I doubt it. Most likely a US pro-war type is my guess. He won't be happy till we have NATO troops blowing up Western Europe in order to bring truth, justice and the American way to Ukraine.

Such a good post, I'm just going to bump it. Withnail -- please don't completely disrupt a thread by flooding it with multiple "what country are you from?!?W@#! Answer me answer me are you ukrainnnian?@#$@#!"

Here is what is so interesting, it could be either of the three -- illness, coup, or escalation planning. There've been cancer rumors over the last year ish. But -- I don't think it's illness. No way. The czar doesn't watch tv while the world talks about coup, the czar would be out there on top of it and you can bet that.

Escalation planning / holed up in bunker is possible, but still, this is not like Putin to allow a power vaccum to develop and questions about coup all over the world like this. If it's #2, escalation planning, then it's something very serious. He withdrew with his advisors over a weekend once to plan the Crimea action, if I recall something I read correctly.

Most mysterious is that nobody is coming out to say anything in support of the president, like Dimitry Medvedev. Rumor and gossip being what it is in Russia, I think it's amazing this thing is still a mystery right now.

Anyhow welcome to the forum, PoliPsy, I for one do not care what country you are from.

I would only just say that some of your sources -- like "global research" -- are dramatic and alamarist and sensational analysis, plus they've got a Russian narrative bent that wants to see anything the US does as some kind of plot. If you want objectivity and truth then just be aware of that. For example: that "dragoon ride" is just a meet and greet convoy. All they are doing is driving back from Estonia after they had the "operation atlantic resolve" training. Cigars are just cigars, when it comes to murica anyhow, though admittedly Russia is riddles inside enigmas and a bit tougher to figure out. a) it ain't a flu, b) he ain't sick, c) it's either planning a massive military move -- could be a full invasion of Ukraine -- or, there's a coup / infighting at the kremlin and all heck is breaking loose / maybe he's under house arrest.

Good post though, I'll bump it:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PoliPsy', 'T')here are many analysts of Russian politics and power structures speculating on this, and 'coup' is one of the possibilities being cited. My initial thoughts regarding the absence were:

1) injury or sickness
2) planning for escalating the response to continued and increasing western pressures
3) a coup attempt

It is only after reading on this over the weekend that the possibility of a coup is moving up the list of possibilities. Articles such as these:

1) Russia Update: Is There a Slow-Motion Coup Under Way? / The Interpreter
2) Kremlin Critics Fear Political ‘Hit List’ as Putin Drops Out of Sight / TIME
3) Russia ETF Falls As Kremlin Reportedly Prepares For 'Mysterious' Announcement / NASDAQ
4) Major announcement by Putin awaited in Moscow / DEBKAfile
5) This is why it’s impossible for the Kremlin to lie about Putin's weird disappearance / Washington Post
6) Stratfor report indicates America is working on a scenario of partitioning of Russia / Fort Russ

At this point, it is all speculation. So let's speculate and give our reasons why.

Interesting coincidences:
1) Putin Signs Law Ratifying BRICS Bank / Russia Insider
2) Russia vows to respond to NATO presence near border / Anadolu Agency
3) Is the Russian flag really not flying over the Kremlin for the past couple of days?
4) TASS gives zero indication of any Putin absence.
5) 3,000 US Troops Head to Eastern Europe for Exercises / AP
6) US sends heavy armour to Baltic states to 'deter' Russia / AFP
7) US-NATO Military Convoy of Tanks and Armored Vehicles at Russia’s Doorstep, Rolling Along the Estonia-Russia Border / Global Research
8) The Pentagon Is Stuffing Caves in Norway Full of Tanks / Medium.com
9) Estonia Fears Being "Overrun By Russia In Minutes", Sweden Sends Troops To Baltic Sea Island / Zero Hedge
10) Nemtsov's killer was hired by the commander of Dzhokhar Dudaev Battalion in Ukraine, Adam Osmaev / Fort Russ

Finally, why would Putin wish to cause the people of Russia undue panic over his leadership status? Why would he not briefly come on TV to dismiss these rumors and then go back to whatever he's doing?

It's either deep war planning, a coup or health issues. We'll see very soon.

ON EDIT: Don't see a way of removing the smilie from the list number eight).

And you're right, it's not rational he would cause panic and above all he would NEVER let questions about a coup just hang out there and he's just mysteriously absent -- that's dangerous stuff -- if you're gone long enough, folk will begin talking of a coup if they weren't to begin with.

I'm a tad worried. You have me thinking now maybe he is planning a massive military move, and that would mean invasion of somewhere.

What is he doing?
Why is he allowing the people of Russia to panic over his leadership status?

1. At home.
2. Watching TV.
3. Amusement and perhaps education.

Its not really healthy for them to think their world ends if Putin retires or just keels over. Guys our age do just drop dead for no good reason every once in a while. You can be in perfect health, turn around, and pooof , dirt nap. Putin might be quite skilled, but he's not unique; there are plenty other skilled executives to choose from who will stick it to the West just as good.

Interestingly enough, they didn't need Putin to tell them to put the fire out at that church in Moscow today. They did their jobs just fine without any hand holding.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Sixstrings', 'S')hort of "nuking a city," an option for them would be to use just a *tactical nuke* against Ukrainian army or something like that.
Tactical. They'd never, ever, nuke a whole city just off the cuff Agent -- they're Russians, not monsters.

So we're monsters??? We've nuked two cities. No, the nuke won't be off the cuff, it'll be scripted, almost identical to our approach; demand an unconditional surrender from Ukraine, and when they refuse, they nuke Lyvy, then demand again. Yall's pretense that a coup would have even the tiniest bit of good news for the West is just irrational. We had our one pro Western coup in Russia, and we used it to siphon off an amazing amount of wealth. They won't walk that path again.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'B')ut they won't even ever use a tactical nuke -- Ukraine will just bitterly hate them for another thousand years if they ever did that.

There won't be a Ukraine.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', ' ')Seriously, Russia has enough people it has pissed off and introducing nukes into the equation isn't a way to win friends and influence people.

They don't want to be your (or my) friend. And the hardliners who would take over from Putin, absolutely do not want to be your friend. They want you and me crispy; and they have the means to make you and me crispy.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'C')alm down about the nuke fears

To whom...

My thought is putin's baby and most of these discussions are off topic to the site and should rightly be in the open forum or other members only forum. As such I'm not going to spend time following you all call each other names and I don't know if the other mods are either.

Don't take that as the go sign to start trashing on topic threads because we won't have that. Pay attention to what AgentR11 and the other long time posters suggest if you want to keep posting here.

Six, since I'm pretty sure you aren't going to put up any PO related threads, if you would please, start any new off topic threads in the Members Only forum such as Open Discusst, Americas, Europe, etc. Of course if for some odd reason you get curious about PO, feel free to post in the PO forums any time.

That is all

Increasing talk in Russia that Putin may not be "in his position" anymore.

Interesting instagram from Putin's ally, in Chechnya:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')here has also been an intriguing posting on photo-sharing website Instagram by one of Mr Putin's close allies, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.

In the posting, Mr Kadyrov renews his pledge of loyalty to the president and adds: "I am devoted to him as a person. And this regardless of whether he is in his position or not!"

This feeds into another theory which some speculate could be the reason for Mr Putin's strange absence: that the unity of the ruling elite surrounding the president has cracked and a powerful faction has now turned against him.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-31897304

Trying to piece this together:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')his has raised suspicions that the murder was carried out on the orders of Chechen officials, which in turn has allegedly angered powerful figures connected with Russia's main intelligence agency, the FSB.

And that puts Mr Putin in a difficult position given his close relationship with the Chechen leadership.

So the chain events seems to be that the leader in Chechnya -- Putin's man -- ordered the hit on Nemtsov. But that actually angered the Russian FSB.

Leader of Chechnya is Putin's guy.

So.. what does this mean.. if there has been a coup.. could the FSB and military authorities have done the right thing here, and detained the president if perhaps they found connections between him and the Nemtsov assassination? Just a guess, a possibility.
