And Ibon is right -- I'm tired of the Putin obsession -- we need an American president to be driving events in the world, again.

This Russia stuff is just nuts, from top to bottom, and they cannot be a leader in the world or trusted about anything with how they are over there. All the "FSB / poltiical clan / mafia" stuff, all the "kremlin" stuff, all the lies. Enough of it. We just need a Ronald Reagan that knows what the deal is, and can't ever be fooled by the kremlin or played and strung along and chess gamed.

If Putin ever does some things that are progress, like if he's really going after the kremlin clans that assassinated Nemtsov, then Russia should get some credit for that. If they keep flying these bombers over us and things like that, then we need to respond to that as well. But no more BS and talking about it, if you keep talking they'll just drive you crazy with all their narratives and propaganda. They're like the Iranians. Enough of it.

And if Russia really is "a mafia state," then they won't ever nuke us anyway. Because ending the world is obviously bad for business. If you think about it, really, mafia ALWAYS backs down to the Law. If you let mafia go unchecked and take advantage, then they will, but if you stand up to them -- they won't blow everyone up, them included -- they'll back down, because they want to stay in some kind of business, that's how it works.

Well it is what it is. The diplomatic move going forward is that the UK gov will need to offer something valuable for allied interests, in return for this, the Brits will have to tack it down the middle somehow.

Essentially the UK is breaking with the allies in the Pacific -- US, Australia, Japan, South Korea - to make a fast buck. We've seen this movie before, with Russian money in London.

(if this is what Brits want to do, then God bless you okay, but the US gov would need to keep the other allies in the camp. Whatever happened to what's right, and not just making a fast buck? Communist Chinese dictatorship is pushing on the whole Pacific, Withnail.

We're trying to lead an alliance here, against dictatorships and tyranny, and Britain weasling around for some advantage isn't helpful.

It's all good, whatever, but the diplomatic reality is that if the UK turns against US policy then you'd see the US suddenly backing the idea of a EU Army and the American position would be to start siding with Europe and Germany on everything..)

edit: this should have been another thread withnail. But anyhow, just wow, Britain backstabbed the whole US Pacific policy. Now probably Australia and Japan and South Korea will join the bank, following British precedent.

My bet is flu. It beat the snot out of me this year, and I had the shot. No one likes to admit they got the flu, especially a public figure; and they most assuredly don't like to be seen on camera blowing snot and phlegm all over the scenery, while peeing on themselves because they coughed too hard.

Everyone thinks of flu as a mild nuisance like they had when they were in their 20's with no complications. No one likes to talk about the flu as experienced by 50-70 yr olds; which is less fun than being run over by a pickup truck and not dieing.


scratch the above regarding Putin if he has been seen today... but not about the flu. Did I mention that I am terrified of influenza? yes?

Well Withnail, they are a RISING power.. they are working up to that..

For example, Chinese troops in Sudan where China has money invested in Sudanese oil.

For example -- maybe there will be a Chinese-Japanese regional war in the future. Now that the Brits just torpedoed the entire American defense of the Pacific, then really when that day comes it ought to be BRITAIN that ponies up to help Australia and Japan and we really should stay out of it because it's BRITAIN that just ruined everything.

UK will have to come up with something, in trade for joining China on their new world bank.

My prediction: the compromise will be that the UK increases military spending and gets more involved in Europe.

But that's not even a fair trade, this China bank thing is long term damaging. And it directly went against US policy in Asia and now other allies that did agree with Washington are going to pull out and now follow UK and China on it. So okay whatever, how about Britain defending these places then hm? Why must we have this bother, anyway, especially with allies like the UK. :|

(I'm not really upset, it's just a bit stunning. I guess the old alliance is over. Special relationship gone. Maybe it's your so-called defence (really militarisation) of regions that causes the problems in the first place.

Not to mention the enormous US supply of weapons.

Let's try a world without the US military/CIA etc in every corner and see how it goes.


Here's an example. South Korea's modern military is easily able to handle any serious attack from North Korea.

Yet the US constantly stokes tensions by holding major exercises in South Korea near the border.

It would all calm down if the US just left.

Well is he okay, Radon? Everyone is so worried about him.

And now I read about these "kremlin mafia clans" that may be out to get him, because he cracked down about Nemtsov. And then somehow he had a baby in Italy in the middle of it all, and is on maternity leave in Switzerland, and then the plane was diverted to Kazakstan with that missing Malaysian airliner.

And then out of nowhere the UK just pulled a "war of 1812" on us double-cross, didn't see that one coming. What a crazy thead.

Anyhow is Putin alright? Does he have the flu? What can brighten up a czar's day, flowers aren't enough, maybe give him Luxembourg?

Of course we do. The Americans have brought us all kinds of benefits with their military occupation of the UK.

In fairness, I believe they even notified the UK government about their intention to bomb Libya after their planes had taken off from UK bases, so they can't be all bad.
