I share your choice Tanda, but we often don't get to pick. Also I think the A-H scenario is more common in bigger organizations.

There was a recent post of some economist writing a book who talked about how mid level managers evolve in big organizations that did a good job of explaining what I have observed.

I'll see if I can find it.

Argument patterns may also follow in-born personality traits.

"Quiet - the Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking" By Susan Cain reflects a lot on the aspects of the sometimes-trying relationship and communication differences between introverts and extroverts. One key point she points out is that introverts tend to not be so into "team building" and "collaboration". They frequently may really need to be a bit more of a lone maverick. Also, what to an introvert is an opinionated, pushy, quick-to-react, loud-mouth A-H can be just viewed as a perfectly normal healthy-assertive-leader to another extrovert.

Of course, because they argue differently, the introvert will never tell anyone they think is an *&$*%@ AH what he/she thinks of them to their face, even if it is online on a forum.
