Pstarr - I've actually gotten rigs bigger than frac trucks down less passable roads. Tore the road up but I fixed it later.

Be afraid, amigo, be very afraid. LOL.

It would appear some feel that model is, well, a wee bit conservative.

Oil company CEO Hamm predicts 2 million barrels per day potential
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'M')ay 23, 2014 - As North Dakota oil production approaches the milestone of producing 1 million barrels a day, CEOs of three top Bakken companies said Thursday that’s only the beginning.

Continental Resources CEO Harold Hamm said he projects that technology advancements will push the state’s production to 2 million barrels per day.

“I don’t think that’s over the top, folks,” Hamm said Thursday, drawing applause during the final day of the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference.

Hamm and CEOs of Whiting Petroleum and Oasis Petroleum said they have up to 20 more years of drilling in the Bakken at the current pace, with decades of more oil production after that.

“We’ve got a resource life here that’s 50 to 60 years,” said Tommy Nusz of Oasis. “It’s not your father’s oil boom anymore. This is going to part of life in North Dakota for a long time.”

Yeah, those whose salaries depend on folks believing that the Bakken is the fabled unquenchable horn of plenty.

Nope, those adept in the art of secondary and tertiary recovery. If you get a chance, find a slide that depicts the 320'-640' well spacing in the Tyler, Bakken and Three Forks formations, all stacked on top of each other. It's begging to be flooded with whatever - water, methane, CO2 - to push more oil out.

basil hayden,

Does water flood or CO2 flood work in a fracked well?

Let's compare Beery1's predictions and see how they stand against one of these CEO's ...

Posted July 17, 2013
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'S')ince September 2012, production in the Bakken has been beginning to flatten. There's no clear trend line yet - nothing to show a definite curve towards a peak, but my feeling is it's going to peak by the end of the year. So I think by this time next year, all the folks trumpeting the death of peak oil due to "THE FRACKING REVOLUTION!!!" are going to be pretty quiet.

Here was a really funny one. We're two years into your 3-year timeline!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'O')ver the next three years, I'm getting a big bowl of popcorn and I'm going to watch the cornies backpedalling and denying as their dreams of abundance and energy independence evaporate. It's going to be awesome! I wonder how they'll spin it when their fantasies are laid bare?

Here's a little chart for Beery to contemplate. Oops!!!

It doesn't seem fair, pointing out how well industry is refuting with wells in the ground and barrels at the railhead, some particular poster who probably doesn't know any more about oil production than any of us non experts do.

Surely TOD did one of their thorough, no stone overturned analysis back in the day showing how soon Bakken crude would stop increasing, and what those production rates would be? Those folks are pretty good, they even called peak oil back when it happened I think, as good as Hubbert's predictions themselves seems like.

Maybe you shouldn't get too excited - it's not 31 July 2015 yet. Maybe on 1 August 2015 you can start crowing. But until then, while your ejaculations are not quite as premature as they might have been if you'd said the same on 1 August 2012, they're still a bit premature. After all, if the cornies start backpedalling in full force on July 31 2015, I'll still be right.

And it's not as if we haven't seen the beginnings of it. After all, all this talk of "peak demand" is just cornie backpedalling.
